Forgive me for being a noob so I don't know how to best answer you questions unless you would like to instruct me as to how.

The best I can do is say, first I made sure all my connections aside from my phone, even my wifi were off before I ran your programs cab, I did get two responses after that the program was successful and then the unit rebooted on its own.

Then I checked the HTC_CM_Guardian.exe file in the Windows root folder and it is indeed a 0 kb file.

Then I ran FdcSoft Task Manager just as I did before I did this and from its Services tab I can see that a service named CM Guardian(AP22:) is listed there. If I click on the give a registry location is shows a few thighs but the closest thing to a file name it has is a file called CM_Guardian_Service.dll

Note that it does not seem to show up in the Processes tab but it wasn't there before I ran your file either, but services.exe is so I would assume that then runs all the files in the services tab?

So I assume then that the services.exe is looking to run and is running the Guarding service via CM_Guardian_Service.dll?

At any rate if there is any more help I can give please ask.

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

unfortunately I still don't have anything but the mogul and tp1, also this is the one area where dotfred's falls short. although it can unregister a dll. (has anyone tried that along with a dummy copy?)

the best way to find dependencies for exe and dll are with some of the following

sktools (paid, but may fall short with this task too.)
PEinfo (old freeware version now part of the sktools package)
total commander

see what ya'll can dig up. i'm thinking the htc services is ok since it's on my old phone/rom, but i'm suspicious of the HTCAP/HTCApplication.dll too.

in reference to the Hf post and the empty dll (dummy); I really think this is where the solution lies.. if anyone can do it right please do or send me the dll's in question.

also it would be nice if someone who has been fighting this issue would post up all the possible reg tweaks in one post as i'm really lost between all the devices and carriers. (also i'm not affected)

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

Thanks for your work shaggylive. I have a question. I just got a new diamond thru insurance replacement. My previous ROM was 1.09, new one is 2.00.651. I've always used just the HKLM reg tweak to use ICS flawlessly. I've had the new phone/rom for about 3wks. As of yesterday, I noticed my reg tweak from ForceCellConnection has changed from Sprint (how I had it set) to PAM. Every time I try to change it back to Sprint, it reverts back to pam when close the reg editor. I believe CMG killer is to fix/prevent that. (?)

My Question: If your cab kills the Guardian, which has carrier specific settings, does it destroy all connection settings? meaning, would one have to call sprint and have their service (phone, data connection, etc.) set up again/reprogrammed? reprovisioned, I believe, is the process I'm referring to.
Thanks for your work, and thanks in advance

scott

no. not if it is working already. I actually don't remember, but I don't think it applies the teather tweak (as some ppl want thier own settings there)
also I recommend having a tool to set rules for connections ie. NoData.cab or others in the opnMarket.

I've been pretty busy, but hope to have some updated versions soon.

Thanks for reply, and I'm glad it doesn't include the tweaks.

I've actually never heard of the connections manager prog (othe than the stock comm manager, of course). but to clarify, this doesn't kill your preset, existing connections, then? Only blocks provider from blocking tweaks? Sorry to drag on, I just don't wanna install if I'll have to deal with sprint any more than necessary I would just stick with my workaround (until they figure to disable that, too)

this should not be required on a custom rom, if it is, find a new chef.

So, I'm just now getting around to the new ROM. This cab worked perfectly. Thanks!

new version on first post should work with 6.1 ROMs, not just 6.5.3?

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

I'm using your HTC_CM_Killer but I noticed you had a new one CM_Proxy_killer....what does that file do? Should I just wait to use it or what?
