Another tidbit I pick up from http://www.hardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1453601

The following Reg need to be added as well.

<characteristic type="HKLM\Services\CMGuaridan">
<parm name="Flags" value="4" datatype="integer" />
</characteristic>

Note the different spelling between CMGuaridan and CMGuardian? Sneaky...

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

well, I'm not sure about that spelling (variant/error), and I haven't had time to properly dig into the issue again. as soon as I do, I will update the cab and the link in my sig.
However, I have not been able to confirm my existing one does not work as is.

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

why not remove CMGuardian completely? why even leave a dummy file... use the dummy file and the reset to stop it, then remove it completely then remove all related CMGuardian files and the dummy file and reset again?

ok, I'll bite. what are "all related cmguardian files"

your method doesn't result in the rom restoring the original cmgaurdian?

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

sorry, from reading your posts and some other posts here on PPC and even over at XDA I see that there is a need for a "Dummy" file, so my question was/is: why the need for a dummy file

the only thing i can think of is more files/programs that use it/restore it, so my 2nd question was can you use your replaced dummy file, then remove the reason WHY you still need the dummy file (im assumg that another program is calling the file and would replace the CMGuardian file if its missing)

is their a way to just get rid of it and whatever repopulates it if its removed?

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

well, last I looked there were several system files associated with it. I don't have a clue which one of those is responsible for calling cmG.exe and more than likely replacing those files with older versions would likely have negative consequences with the newer rom/sys.

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

ah ok, that makes sense, i didnt know weather this was a quickly thrown together thing (which it is) or something that you went through and found out this was the only way to get rid of CMG (which would be nice but seems it would take too long by your summery)

much love&respect for you, i really wish someone would tear down this MR release so it can be kitchenized almost (i like some stuff but not all from sprint)
