didnt work for me. when itried it and i hit sync it said that the server wasnt a real exchange server. i then removed contacts and calendar and then i got it to work. why is there 2 threads about this? could we get these 2 merged please?

i think you can only have it set up to use only one exchange server.

Menu/Tools/Options/Storage then I changed 'Empty deleted items' to immediately.

Well the push seems to not be working for me.

I set my active sync to 1 hour and would receive emails that wouldn't instantly push to my phone like it should.

I set-up my phone as described by the OP. I did some searches and it seems that setting up your phone to sync should automatically push now that google has that feature.

Yes your data connection is on, but it isn't always actively downloading or exchanging data. Google pushes the email via Google Sync, which uses the exchange protocol, which essentially means that the only data being downloaded or exchanged is when the email server is pushing email
This is not be good for battery life, correct?

i believe it will make battery live worse.

Open up Gmail in on your PC, and then choose the all mail label. You will find your deleted items there.

It appears that deleting items on your phone just removes the inbox label and archives the email in all mail.

Run a battery monitor on your phone. Mine is not consuming any more battery power than when my email is setup for Imap.
