Running PhoneAlarm and Mobile Shell 3?

I am trying to run PhoneAlarm in conjunction with Mobile Shell 3. But, apparently, the profiles on PhoneAlarm override any other profiles on the phone, because when I set sms and ringtones through phonealarm and then use the MS3 profile button and set the phone to silent, it still rings out loud. It looks like the phonealarm profile is taking president over the MS3 one.

Is there any way to change this? The MS3 profiles are MUCH easier to set and very finger friendly. I would like to use phonealarm (for repeat notifications as well as custom SMS tones) along with MS3, but this profile thing is driving me crazy.

Any help?

I do not know about using Phone Alarm, but Spb Phone Suite will allow you to do what you want and integrates into Spb Mobile Shell. Works good.

I do not know much about SPB Phopne Suite. Dopes it do the following?
  • repeat notifications?
  • custom sms tones based on sender?
  • custom sms tones based on text?
I know the third one is tricky, but I have a unique situation where I would like to be able to differentiate tones based on what the text says, because they come from the same sender.

To give you the Cliff's Notes version, my employer uses a central SMS text message system that sends out text messages to all employees. Most of them are general announcements and generally garbage. But, I am also on the Local Emergency Squad so I am notified of all emergencies on our complex. They use the same system (thus, same sender) to send them out. But, the emergency notifications always read differently and include the word "Emergency" in them. I would like to have a program that would catch "Emergency" in the text and play a different, appropriate emergency tone so I would know it was not another garbage information text.

Phonealarm will do that, but the profile issue is a deal breaker for me.

I use PhoneAlarm and MS3 together, but I use PA exclusively for my profiles. I like that the settings are so granular and I can control virtually every aspect of my Touch Pro based on time of day. I don't know how you'd use MS3 for some functions and PA for others.

Because I'm not using PhoneAlarm for its profiles. It is not a finger friendly program. I use MS3 for virtually everything. I only want to use PhoneAlarm for the custom SMS tones and repeat notifications, which MS3 doesn't do. I have no choice but to use another program for those functions. But, the PhoneAlarm profiles override the MS3 ones.

I'd have to dig through the settings to confirm, but can't you set PhoneAlarm to just use the default ringtones and other settings? So you could specify SMS tones and repeat notifications that you want in PA, but for everything else leave it to default, or 3rd party, or whatever it's called for that setting? I have several ringtones and notifications that are set like this, because I was fine with the default WM settings. It sounds like that should allow you to do what you're looking for.

Re: Running PhoneAlarm and Mobile Shell 3?

If you ask your question here-> http://www.pocketmax.net/smf/index.php?board=29.0 I'm sure you can find a solution. The developer is very active on the board and there is not much Phone Alarm can't do. There are also many "finger friendly" skins available in the forums.

Be a little patient at the PhoneAlarm forum. Bruce is on vacation.

See, I thought so too. I set all the ringtone options to 3rd Party, but the profiles still take precedence over the MS3 ones. I think it is because the custom sms tones are also technically part of the profiles.

I'm right confused on this one. Because I REALLY like phonealarm and want to use it.
