First cool apps to be extracted from the Omnia II
Midomi is a music identification app. This one allows you to hum, sing or play songs to identify them.
Only works over WiFi initially, but a simple registry fix will enable it to work over 3g:

navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Melodis\Midomi\midomiGU IDType

Change value from 3 to 1

SharePix lets you quickly upload pics to facebook, myspace, friendster and photobucket (all work).
Unfortunately, picasa and flickr aren't working.

More info here

Version for WQVGA available here
cab with reg fix (thanks, ksg)

Thanks. i only tried the midomi app, and it works as advertised. Pretty cool. Too bad it only works with a wifi connection. On that sad note, im gonna stick with musicID. But thanks for posting though. Very cool.

Does MusicID still work for you? Last time I tried it (couple days ago) it said something about it being discontinued and replaced by Shazam which requires purchasing some kinda subscription... If you know where to find a MusicID cab that still works I'd appreciate it. :)

Yeah, being reliant on WiFI kinda takes away from it, but it is cool to try out.
On a side note, I'd like to see the Omnia II video editor...

So...who wants to port these to WQVGA? Is that even possible?

All you have to do if you are not in a WiFi area, is this...
Open up HTC WiFiSharing and start it... Go to Comm MGR, and make sure that WiFi is enabled (i know it sounds weird cuz you're running WiFiSharing, but do it)... Go to the wireless networks found and connect to you own WiFi that you are broadcasting... You are now on self 3G/WiFi hybrid internal outer connector thingy linked good to go + <-- haha... :D=D>

Midomi is resolution aware and will already work on WQVGA.

Re: Updated: Midomi (extracted from OmniaII) now works over regular data!

someone found a registry edit that enabled Midomi to work over regular data:

Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Melodis\Midomi\midomiGU IDType

change from 3 to 1

There's also a version for QWVGA screens

I'm going to go with Midomi because you can whistle a song and it gives you the name of it. Music ID can't do that.

Looks nice and works pretty well. I like the options after it finds the song! Thanked ya for the post.

Re: Updated: Midomi (extracted from OmniaII) now works over regular data!

I've made the registry edits, but the program keeps crashing and producing a cprog.exe error.

I'm going to try the reg edit cab and see if that works.

I'm using an HTC Touch w/ stock ROM BTW.

edit: no luck. Still crashes. Anyone else having issues with this?

Yup, works great....

Now someone needs to port over the Calendar application properly. That's the one I'm really waiting for. The stock/default Windows CE/Mobile Calendar application is really outdated an lacking...

ok so i've only tried the updated one, but it crashes when i hit the menu button (right softkey). i haven't been able to test out functionality yet because i was at work and now i'm on the bus. don't want people to think i'm crazy singing into my phone.

i've cabbed up the SharePix files as well as added a shortcut to run from the start menu.

app seems a little slow/buggy at times, but seems to work alright.

*updated .cab, version 2 is working great now :headbang:

Yeah, menu isn't supposed to work... on any versions. I still don't know what functions are in there though...
The main thing is that hum/sing/play song to id works fine.

I'm sure you've already heard about it, but have you tried thumbcal? That's my favorite calendar replacement and it's as finger friendly as you'll get... I doubt the omnia ii calendar matches it.

I couldn't get anything to work with it. I tried the humming, I tried holding it up to speakers; all yield the same results. It can't find a suggestion, and then it crashes.

I've done the edits as well.

Do you listen to an obscure genre of music?
I can see some people having trouble with humming songs because everyone does so differently... check out this video and see if you can replicate results with humming that song, just to make sure it's working. Then again, even if i mess up humming, it always suggests a bunch of songs. You no longer get the network error message, right?

I'm thinking it's more of a compatibility issue because you're not getting a network error and aren't getting suggestions. Can anyone confirm any problems with the Touch?
Songs played over the radio or a media player should be picked up and identified easily. I think i've had it ID about 15 straight songs heard over the radio so far.

BTW, which cab did you install the one attached to the original post or one of the two links to other posts?

A lot of what I listen to I could honestly see the program having issues with, but what I used as a test was top 40 stuff. I don't get the network error, it just can't find a song, and then freezes and crashes. I've tried both of the cabs (the original with the manual reg. edits, and the updated one with the edits built in). I'll try giving it another go today and report my results.

edit: Ok, so i installed it again (the reg edit version) and ran it. singing/humming yields results, but not the correct ones. Granted, i only half heartedly hummed, so i'm sure if i tried, it would give better results, however, the "grab mode" gives nothing. it can't find anything. Oddly enough, when it records the sample, it only gets to 5 on the timer and then tried searching. it never gets to the full 10 seconds before searching. anyone else w/ a Touch notice this or having this issue?

Clipp 08-11-2009 06:32 PM

Re: Updated: Midomi (extracted from OmniaII) now works over regular data!

/\ yeah, something's definitely not right. It should search more than 5 secs for grab mode. I'd suggest asking people in the vogue/touch forum if they have this issue. I think you're the only person i've come across with these types of problems. I haven't heard of the program crashing either, unless the menu key is hit. Have you tried over wifi? Probably same results, huh? Hope you figure it out.

just wanted to chime in and let TTK know he wasn't crazy..I'm having same issue on TP Stock ROM.

side bar....My MusicID is back working cuz it was asking to register for a while...anyone know what this is about?
