So... Suggestions?
 

Hey guys, I am thinking about getting into Pocket PC app. development. Now, I'm not a super awesome programmer, but I'm not terrible. I always have the problem of not knowing what apps I want to make... so I'm taking suggestions. Please keep in mind that I'm one man, and I'm new to the ppc scene. Try to keep them simple, but useful. Maybe, MAYBE, I can do a compilation of various simple apps and put them together.


So... suggestions?

Hmm... that sounds like a good idea, but that also sounds complex. I would have to learn how to talk to the user's network. Plus, I'm sure they'd want it to have MMS stuff as well... because no one likes using 2 different apps for something.

What about a file converter to change bmp files to brn files for the ppc for those of us that still use the cube?
Or maybe a cab creator/editor for the ppc. :)

A cab creator should actually be really simple, since all it is is an xml file and other files that are renamed... I'm not exactly sure what the naming scheme is of files in cabs though... if someone could fill me in?

And the default icon is controlled by the exe as far as I know, unless there are registry edits for it... I don't know too much about that.

And as for actually converting .bmp to .brn, is it a simple extension rename, or is the picture re encoded?

I wish I knew.
All I know is brn files are picture files that htc uses for the cube.
I think there might already be one that was made for a reg pc but not a ppc.

Well, that's two possibilities, I just need to learn a little more. Maybe I should research, but that can wait until tomorrow.

There is a brn to bmp converter for PC, but not PPC....
