Updated January 1, 2010

Updated moon phases through year 2012 (thanks to member gator, who assembled the moon data this year).

Note: When upgrading, the best way to save your current settings is to copy the weatherpanel.dll file to your installation directory (don't use the cab file)...

A consolidated version of WeatherPanel for 2010. This is a free version, with these enhancements:
  • Authorization fix
  • Hourly data fix (updated January 3, 2009)
  • Moon phase table good through December 31, 2012 (thanks gator)

Notes:
  • Download the file and unzip
  • Copy the CAB file to your device and install
  • If replacing, manually remove your previous version (be sure to keep files/settings when asked) - then install this version. This method should ensure you keep all of your settings.
  • Soft reset to initiate the hourly data fix

01/03/2010 - Update:
  * Extended moon phase data through year 2012.
01/03/2009 - Minor update:
  * Adjusted hourly data fix - again! Incorporated GMT offset into date calculations (thanks to tcbusch, who analyzed and developed the gmt offset logic).
01/01/2009 - Minor update:
  * Adjusted hourly data fix for 2009. The gap has increased by
    366 days.
10/13/2008 - Minor update:
  * Fixed a bug in the "hourly data fix" script that prevented WP from
    using hourly forecast data as current conditions data expired.
  * Modified hourly data fix script to always run from main storage -
    which fixes the issue where the script dialog would show after
    every soft reset (when WP was installed to storage card).
Important: To ensure you keep your previous settings, first manually uninstall WeatherPanel (Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs) - and be sure to answer "No" to the prompt "Delete files and settings?". Then install this version...

Here is the fixed dll that works.

A little over a year ago I recieved an email telling me that weather.com was going to require authentication. At that time I knew WeatherPanel was going to stop working when this policy was enforced. I thought about how to overcome this issue and created a webserver redirection scheme that would embed the auhentication into the url query that weatherpanel sends to weather.com. Ihave been sitting on the code for over a year waiting for the day that arrived earlier in the week. I explained the details of the fix a few posts ago.
Anyways, I implimented my fix on a server to verify it worked. I sent the files to venusware.net, not sure if the venusware.net owner wants to be known so I'll just say thanks!! He and I both tested it and it works too. So here it is. I believe Storyr will be creating new cabs and posting them on this thread. For those of you who dont want to wait just disable your weatherpanel plugin, which is probably already disabled, and replace the weatherpanel.dll with this one. Its located in your Program Files/ Marsware/Weatherpanel directory.

The only thing I ask in return is for you to hit the green thanks button. :-)

Quick question...fix works great but on the 10 day forecast tab, I only get the first 5 days of data. Days 6-10 are marked as N/A and blank. Is this a weather.com issue or an issue with the .dll?

LOL...I think I can live with it if it doesn't show 10 days.

I thought it only showed 7 days before. Is there a way to show only 5 or 7 days? Where is this option located?

the setting for neon-fusion display, could be a workaround for the 5+ day outlook not being avail

LOL, no kidding. Around these parts we're lucky if the forecast is accurate for the next 24 hours (never mind the next 10 days....)

As for the 5 day vs. the 10 day forecast...my current theme only uses 5 days so I am TOTALLY OK with that! Even if it didn't I would mind it...at least the program is working!!!

no kidding, nothing else holds a candle to WP.

I use the weather channel app whick works OK but doesn't have traffic cams.

I also use weather underground which probably has the most accurate forecasts, but for an all around complete weather program WP is definitely king.

It the Animated Diamond There by Rumball. I got is at XDA.

Its a really good theme....
The Icon file is HUGE so I put it on my storage card instead of the main memory.

EDIT: Actually the theme uses 6 days when you click on the extended forecast but I have it on the 5-day view for the layout. So...I'm TOTALLY OK w/ tcbusch's 5 day forecast.

This is fantastic!

But, how long before weather.com decides to change it again so we can't pull weather from them. I don't think they like WP very much...they seem to want us to pay for their inferior app...

Tbusch I'm having trouble with my hourly charts not showing up anymore. I am using your weather panel 2009 cab with the fixwphourdata mortscript file. set everything to how it was before having to install this new .dll and after a few soft resets it still isnt displaying hourly. there is an hourly data file in the weather panel data folder so the data did download. any suggestions?

Be warned however, it uses a TREMENDOUS amount of memory which is why I use PhatPhinger most of the time instead......

You're right...It does use A LOT of memory. But I don't have my WP showing on my home screen 24/7 so it helps in that area, not tremendously. I use it w/ Throttle Launcher & the TouchFLO 3D theme so I can hide WP when I'm on any other icon. I like the theme A LOT so I had to make some sacrifices. :???:

Update July 13 2009

For those of you who are using my hourly fix you can reinstall the application using the files below. Both of the install below require mortscript to be installed first.

The WP_TRIAL08_Fixed_DLL 2009.zip file just updates the dll and istalls my hourly data fix.
The WeatherPanel 2009 - tb.zip installs the whole weatherpanel application.

gksmithlcw is working on a more permanent solution for us in case this doesn't work forever. TCBUSCH & GKSMITHLCW & STORYR + countless other are amazing & I'm sure we will be able to get this program or some form of it @ 100% in no time! Check out the thread...
