Re: Opera Mobile 9.7 out Monday!?

Are other people having issues opening links into a new tab? I was expecting to hold down on a link and have the context menu show "open in new tab" but I'm not seeing it.

Re: Opera Mobile 9.7 out Monday!?

I gonna say I love the speed.....And thats about it.
The pics arent the correct size and its not nearly as clear as Opera mobile. I think Im gonna stick with ole' faithful (9.5)

Im gonna have to remove this, I only got 3mb of program memory left, lol. (guess I shoulda read the installed size before installing to main memory)

Does anyone know what its labeled as in the remove programs menu?

Opera Software Opera 9
or
Opera Software Opera Mobile

I dont wanna remove the wrong one!

1) In the browser enter "Opera:Config" with out the " 's to load the Preferences Editor
2) Select User Agent and change the value to 3 and press save.
3) Select User Pref, scroll down and find Custom User-Agent and type this exactly.
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0)
4) Scroll down further and press save.
5) Exit Opera Mobile and restart your device.

It's important that you format that sentence correctly to trick pages into loading the desktop versions of their site. Don't leave out the proper spacing. Also note, this doesn't work with Opera Turbo engaged but under normals browsing usage you'll no longer recieve mobile pages unless you type them in directly i.e. http://m.youtube.com
This method works for both 8.5 and the just released 8.7.

Let me know if this helps and you're welcome.
I did all this including copied and pasted the Mozilla/4.0... yada yada stuff in for the Custom User part and saved then reset my phone and it still brings up mobile versions...

Re: Opera Mobile 9.7 out Monday!?

It's cool that they're using hardware acceleration, but they didn't align it to the pixel grid right. Fonts are very slightly blurred. Now it's not such a big deal on a VGA screen, but still, it's not pixel-perfect.

No mention on their site of text being reflowed even when zoomed out. Everyone's getting this, right?

Now I have to do some basic benchmarking against Iris 1.1.8. Torch Mobile just keeps making their browser better, dangit.

@Torx: Thanks for mentioning me in your sig. (: I'm preparing a new release based on 21806, with the new Opera Mobile built-in and some other updates.

Re: Opera Mobile 9.7 out Monday!?

Adding a custom agent will only work if you disable Turbo mode, keep that in mind. If you're still getting mobile version of the page I suggest clearing your history to wipe out any cached pages that might be stored on your device.

Re: Opera Mobile 9.7 out Monday!?

I finally figured out that the real problem is not with zooming, but with clown-size fonts. Not all text, just some, randomly. Skyfire also has this problem to some extent.

I have finally given up on both Opera and Skyfire. I have made Iris my default browser. It's rather slow, but it works. I am amazed that after all this time, Opera still can't get it right.
