Re: SportyPal - GPS tracking application

Lucky I looked on here today and decided to try this out on my new roadie on a 55miler. It seems as though there was an issue on uploading the first leg of the trip to the web. It kept sayin there was an error and to check the internet connection. Kept tryin and getting the same error. But when I logged into the site that leg of the trip was uploaded multiple times since I tried doing it so many times.

It also seems as though at some point in the trip it lost my GPS signal so it made a straight line to the last GPS signal to where the trip ended so it cut my actual mileage down to just under 50 miles. But this was on the upload only which is weird because on the phone it actually shows that I went 55 miles which is more accurate.

Oh well. I think I also may have messed up by not registering through the phone first as I did it on the site and it asked me to register again on the phone when I tried uploading my trip.

Other then that the other leg showed up flawless and the site and app couldn't be any esier to use. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

Hi quiqnezz,
Thanks for the notice, and I'm really glad that you like the application.
For the issues that you mentioned I can say that Sportypal.com was working hard on them and the problem with the uploading and loosing the GPS signal in some areas are already fixed and now it won't give you any error message when you will try to upload your data again.

Greets,

Greets,

Nice, glad to hear the issues have been fixed as I plan to use it everytime I do my bike rides moving forward.

Also, I saw the option to take a photo during the trip. I tested it out and later saw that the app created a folder called "Workouts" in my picture directory. The pics I took were in there. Are they suppose to be uploaded though with my trip data? As I didn't see it on the map when I checked. Do I have to manually upload the pics somehow?

This feature is what trackme also is able to do. It will put your photos up on the map at the point where you took them on the trip. Is this how Sportypal is suppose to work as well?

Thanks again.

I'm glad I checked back too. I installed Friday and was very impressed with what I saw from my test ride. Saturday's bike trip had the same problems you mentioned (error on upload though it did upload causing me to end up with 3 extra copies to delete before I noticed and the straight line on the return leg). My 30-mile trek yesterday had the upload error which I ignored but the GPS log was perfect.

This is a really nice app that I look forward to using a lot this summer. We appreciate the support.

This app is FANTASTIC!!!! I am shocked by it's simplicity, and accuracy. Even off road it works perfectly. I purposely tried to get lost out in the woods while on a target shooting outing and it JUST CANNOT HAPPEN. Excellent find for a free app! Well done.

I had that problem with the uploading also during the weekend, but yesterday when `i came home after my bike session everything was working back to normal without any problem, and I uploaded from the first try.

Re: SportyPal - GPS tracking application

Things have been much more stable it seems uploading workouts.

I have a question for sportypal and/or you other users:

One quirk I've noticed is that trying to close (not exit) to temporarily leave sportypal to, say, switch music or something, seems to be quite difficult. I seem to have a heck of a time pausing the workout then trying to to my music player. Sometimes it will work bit mostly it will flash then pop right back into sportypal. Is it my Omnia doing it or SportyPal itself? I don't seem to have the same trouble with other apps.

Anyone?
