PCM Keyboard New SIP 0.11b *UPDATE 11/3*

From the Creator of Pocket Contacst Manager (PCM) i bring you the PCM Keyboard This keyboard is fully customizable and has a great smart word simliar to the iphone (can be seen in screenshot below, mistyped keyboard but it suggests it) also you can add words to the dictionary as seen below(notice the + sign by his name)

Whats Fixed in 0.11b?

This is mainly a bug fixes release.

o Suggestion box disappear if leaving input box
o Better suggestion handling
o Typing fast after autocorrection doesn't make wrong suggestion anymore
o Layout issue with "\\" fix
o Symbol pad now appear near the symbol letter if they don't fill the screen width
o Using arrow key break suggestion
o Tapping on "add word" then moving the finger out will not add to dictionary anymore
o Key notation using [#...] now support larger letter
o Fixed setting saving, now setting layout then skin won't drop layout setting change

* Option screen now allows you to choose the current dictionary
* New dictionary file name: the extension has to be "dict", not "txt" (note that custom word, remains in word.txt)
* Support for key trigger more than one letter (for instance, choosing the "..." key will simulate three typing of '.')
* Feedback is also show for symbol keys
* Suggestion shouldn't be shown for password
* 0.7 is also a bug fixes release

Whats new in 0.4?
once you've installed the keyboard, select it as your input method, go to option in the SIP menu, and tap on the "options..." button, you'll be able to choose your skin.

* Better support for more row: now the number of row is determined by the layout, you can even have different number of row for each layout.

o Green: I'm gonna replace your text with that
o Blue: your word seems correct, tap here for alternative
o Red: I don't know your word or any near word, is it a new one?
* Suggestion can be undone: after fixing your text, a button with your previous text appear, tap on it to go back
* Shift key (can't be locked yet, it's coming)
* Tap and hold symbol key for 500ms and quick symbol will appear, choose your symbol and release (perfect to quickly tap a ? or ! without switching keyboards)

Install instructions

1. Grab the Default IM Selector Attached below
2. Grab the PCM keyboard from the link above
3. Install both cabs
4. Start -> Programs -> IM Selector -> chose PCM Keyboard
5. Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Input -> Select PCM Keyboard
6. Soft Reset and Enjoy

Customizing keyboard layout
- you can customize your keyboard layout, for instance the default is:
keyboard_layout_1=qwertyuiop\nasdfghjkl'\n\Bzxcvbn m.\n\M \N

\n is to go to the next chars row
\B is the backspace key
\M is the mode key (allow you to cycle between layout1 to 4)
\N is the enter key
Other key are the letter, so for this layout_1 we have:

qwertyuiop
asdfghjkl'
\Bzxcvbnm.
\M \N


that will look like a simple querty keyboard.

For a french keyboard, you can for instance add this (in the settings.ini file):

keyboard_layout_1=azertyuiop\nqsdfghjklm\n\Bwxcvbn '.\n\M \N

keyboard_layout_1=azertyuiop\nqsdfghjklm\n\Bwxcvbn '.\n\M \N


You can define keyboard_layout_1 to keyboard_layout_4 every time the user press the \M key it will go to the next.

Dictionnary suggestion: the SIP will make suggestion based on the key you press. It use dict.txt. Tell me about it.


For instance the settings.ini for azerty layout is:

This with Pocket Contact Manager makes a great combination I found it today when I was updating my copy of PCM. I have been using it all day and it works great, I have big fingers so I was a little skeptical at first, but no problems so far, it works great. Thanks for posting WOW

So far, i love it more than the last mod i was using that i found on xda (the iphone look alike), but theres something id suggest

a better landscape mode, for the wider screen, and also its kinda buggy, it sometimes appears more than half way off screen

and really, thats it, the lifting to type is a whole letter better than first impact, and made me maybe twice as accurate, thanks for the share, expect a donation

*edit:

to repeat the bug in landscape, have the standard keyboard open while in landscape, open up options, and select pcm keyboard and it will appear off screen

from what i understand quentin has pretty much decided landscape support is kind of pointless as almost all phones have the sliding keyboard for landscape mode

Same here. I can finally type using the soft keyboard without a stylus which is nice when I don't want to pull out the hard keyboard.
