MyTinyTV (poor mans slingbox)

Poor mans Sling Box...No, it's not a replacement for your TiVo, home theater system, big-screen TV or even your regular TV. But it's a ok little app that lets you view TV thoughout your house.

And, you can even bring it along, because it also works across the Internet when you are away from home. Use Wifi or for remote access you will need some form of (wireless or wired) Internet access (for example, as offered by the major wireless service providers, ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.) and a pretty decent broadband connection at your house, where the desktop computer with the TV tuner is located.

This is a Free APP...so dont expect slingbox quality

The file is an exe run and follow the prompts...

Here you can find out what you need to use MyTinyTV.
You can use MyTinyTV to watch live TV at home and on the road. MyTinyTV supports wired and wireless networks, as well as any Internet connection:MyTinyTV supports multiple TV tuners in the same desktop computer, each with its own channel lineup (mix analog cable, digital cable, antenna, satellite on the same computer).
One MyTinyTV installation on one desktop can support multiple Pocket PCs, laptops and desktops, even at the same time (if you have multiple TV tuners available).
For home use, it does not require a permanent Internet connect or even a broadband connection. A simple dial-up connection is enough to download the TV listings occasionally.
System Requirements (Around The House)
  •
Desktop computer - used as the TV Server
    • at least one supported TV tuner card
    • Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or better
    • Display card - 100% DirectX9 compatible
    • 2.8Ghz or better, the more the better
    • 512MB RAM, the more the better
    • 50 MB free hard disk space

TV tuner(s) connected to
  • Pocket PC, Laptop or Desktop to watch TV
    • Pocket PC(s)
      • Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 2003 SE or Windows Mobile 5
      • wireless network access
      • Screen size at least 320 x 240 (or more)
    • Laptop or Desktop
      • Windows XP or better
      • wireless/wired network access

Wireless/wired network (connecting Pocket PC, laptop, desktop to your TV Server)
    • Only about 500Kbps of traffic is needed, so network requirements are minimal
  • Dialup or broadband Internet connection for your desktop computer to update TV listings occasionally
System Requirements (Remote Access While You're Away)
  •
Desktop computer - used as the TV Server
    • at least one supported TV tuner card
    • Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or better
    • Display card - 100% DirectX9 compatible
    • 2.8Ghz or better, the more the better
    • 512MB RAM, the more the better
    • 50 MB free hard disk space

TV tuner(s) connected to
  • Pocket PC, Laptop or Desktop to watch TV
    • Pocket PC(s)
      • Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 2003 SE or Windows Mobile 5
      • wireless/wired network/Internet access
      • Screen size at least 320 x 240 (or more)
    • Laptop or Desktop
      • Windows XP or better
      • wireless/wired network/Internet access

Broadband Internet connection for your desktop computer
    • At least 250Kbps upload capability is required (from your house to the Internet)
    • also used to download TV listings occasionally
  • Internet access for your Pocket PC
    • At least 250Kbps download capability is required (only wireless broadband and wireless hotspots provide the necessary speed). While slower speeds are supported, the video quality becomes unacceptable. You may want to read a book instead.
Analog Cable and Antenna Requirements
MyTinyTV works great with analog cable and antennas. No additional requirements must be met to use analog cable or an antenna. Even if you have digital cable, you usually get analog cable automatically (the channels below 100). Because no settop box is needed for analog cable, MyTinyTV has no other requirements.
Digital Cable and Satellite Requirements
Current TV tuner cards cannot accept digital cable or satellite directly (in US markets). Instead, your current settop box is used by MyTinyTV (just like you use it with your regular TV). MyTinyTV changes channels using an Infrared Transmitter, which emulates the infrared signals your remote control normally transmits. MyTinyTV 2.0 currently supports an Infrared Blaster named USB-UIRT. This is available online directly from us or you may also order it directly from the manufacturer. Please note that we only ship to the US & Canada. International orders must be placed with the manufacturer or with a reseller. USB-UIRT is also supported by third-party PVR software.
Compatible TV Tuner Cards
The following have been tested and are fully compatible with MyTinyTV. Generally, any analog TV tuner should work. We now also support USB TV tuners, TV tuners that require a connection to the sound card and MPEG-only TV tuners.
  •
Most MPEG-only TV tuner cards are supported (added in 2.04)
Most TV tuner cards that were previously misidentified as requiring a connection to a sound card are supported (added in 2.04)
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2
ADSTech MiniTV USB
Cards based on ATI THEATERâ„¢ 550 PRO chipset (many manufacturers are producing cards based on this chipset)
Cards based on Phillips 713x chipset
Hauppauge PVR 150(MCE), 250(MCE), 500(MCE).
Hauppauge WinTV Go-Plus
TV Wonder USB 2.0
ATI TV Wonder Pro
ATI All-In-Wonder
ASUS My Cinema
WinFast TV 2000 XP
KWorld
VStream
Most TV tuner cards that connect to the sound card are supported (added in 1.02)
Many "older" cards may need an updated driver (from the manufacturer) to work correctly with MyTinyTV.
  • Try yours - let us know whether it works and we'll add it to the list.
Even if your card isn't listed, it should work. While we haven't tried all the cards, most should now work fine. If yours doesn't, let us know. If it's a new card, we'll try to get a hold of one so we can make it work.
Tuners That Are DEFINITELY NOT Supported (and probably never will be)
These tuners are not supported and we have no plans to support these:
  •
Lumanate products: Angel, Maui, Bali, etc. (We are unable to obtain these) - these may work as of 2.04, however we are unable to test this. If you have one of these, please let us know!
ADSTech Instant TV Deluxe (according to the manufacturer, this unit is not DirectShow compliant)
  • any digital TV tuners (ATSC, DBV-T, DVB-C, DBV-S) - I am working on ATSC support...
