Ok so i have a q'stion... Y can't i get my town (Cortlandt Manor, NY) via the zipcode (10567) to display? :evil:

I edited \WINDOWS\HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml to add my town (<city name="Cortlandt Manor, US" loca="10567" land="United States" />) and i'm still getting a error saying that it can't retrieve the info. I did it on the custom rom as well.

I even get this message (the message in the quote) talking about how i've entered an inconfigured web site. Yet nothing.

The forum N2A has is for WM6, so i'm wondering if anyone here got any custom cities to work using zip. If so care to take a look at my city?

HuH? wat was the probl. again? I just transfered the HTC customizer v0.8 folder to my SD and got rid of the older one u had and I haven't seen any prob. Is it when u try to run a certain something that's a prob?

The problem was with the HHCv08.cab only. When installing the appearance files, it was installing the same appearance files into each sub-directory (ex. DigitalGlow Aqua clock were being copied into Original, Segoe Bold Grey, etc. in their folder), so all you would get is 1 font even though it was installed in 5 different directories.

If you installed from the zip file, everything is fine as nothing else changed, only the install procedure.


EDIT: tvith, I am able to pull your weather on both my Mogul (via phone data conn.) and on my Apache (via wifi, not activated). Are you manually trying to set it up or are you using the customizer?

for some reason when I go to the appearance-background setting I get a blank option box like no backgrounds are installed. I then went to download backgrounds and it said the file was already on the device and I selected to over-write. still nothing in the box. the folder is named 'bg' and has the correct files in it, but will not show in the option box.

any ideas?

Just fixed it. The sets were there, my routine for checking got messed up. You can DL the full version or just the patch if you wish.

Not sure if this has been covered but want to know what happens if you set tab order to 0 or to 7 this is what happens.

Ok so here's wat I've done so far... I've put the custom city into both the Custom xml file, the Default xml file and even the HH_0409_WeatherCities xml file, I've done it via zip and the other way (Nam|US| so on and so forth) and i've even done it through the customizer... everything was a no go. I even put in a zip 10704 (Yonkers) and it didn't show me, but that town is already listed in the HH_0409_WeatherCities that comes w/ the HTC plug-in. So either i'm doing somethign wrong or my phone is being a biatch, and i'm always gonna blame it on the phone, 'cause i'm too perfect for it to b my fault..hahahahaha.

So yea anyways, I've done it all via Phone Data connection as i don't have a wifi set up at home. *I've been trying to hop on my neighbors but he hasn't come online in a while i think lol*

So anythign else i can provide u that could help u figure out wat i'm doing wrong... Idk if it's somethign i've set up that's messing it up or if i'm putting it in wrong...IDK. or maybe u can just do a step by step of wat u did, and wether u did it through data or wifi and I'll follow that and c if i can get it.

You can shrink the png files for the clock font to make them smaller if you wish, but this will not make the plugin take up less space if that's what your wanting to do. Those settings are built into the plugin and would have to be hacked beyond the capabilities of my customizer to get that result.

Ok so after following this everything works perfect. Now my town is shown in the weather instead of some town that's 45mins away. Thanks...

I guess the key word in ur instruction is def. the SOFT RESET. 'cause before getting thsoe instructions i was doing everything that u stated in steps 1 and 2 but never did a soft reset after changing the Weather Database and adding my city and that's wat my mistake was 'cause after i exited out of the customizer and then did a soft reset, my town was showing in the weather tab..... thanks emunutz

Problems with VGA
 

Your work is really great. All the tabs work fine!

But I have a problem with the high of the plug-in (using HTC Universal, VGA device; landscape and portrait mode same problem). I am not able to see the first line (ex. Weather, Sound:Normal) Is it possible to change it somewhere?

i installed the whole file everything is working fine..my only problem is that i have 2 of everything on the top and bottom, example is: like i have 2 clocks and when i click weather i have 2 weathers, click speeddial i see 2 sets of them one on top and another on the bottom. sorry i couldnt post a SS cause im at work. anyone know how to fix this problem?

This is a known issue with VGA devices, as the Home plugin is QVGA only. AFAIK, there is no way to fix this currently. If anyone has better info, feel free to correct me.


It sounds like you had a previous install (or pre-installed with your ROM) of the Home plugin. I *THINK* this is because of a duplicate entry in the Today Items screen. If you disable one of them, that should make it show you only one copy of the plugin. however your problem runs a little deeper to completely fix it. Best bet would be to remove all versions you have installed, then re-install the version you wish to keep. If that's not your problem, PM me and we'll figure it out.

oh i did have 2 of them installed, everything is fixed now what a great program i must say..and i thank you for the help, very very appreciated.

emunutz, this is a great program and it's running flawlessly in the two minutes I've had it on my Apache.

I do have what might seem to be a dumb question: Is thereany way to put TodayAgenda as a selection in the HTC Home Plugin or really any other program at all? I think it would be great to have that as an option instead of the ringer selector.

I'm sure it's a lot more complicated than I'm thinking, but it's just a thought.

I am loving this so far but I am having one small problem. Whenever I click the email button to check my emails it always takes me to my IMAP account regardless of whether or not it has new emails. With phonealarm when I click on the email link it will take me to whichever account has new emails. Is there anyway to configure this plugin to do that or at least take me to the email account selector screen?

There is no way for us to substitute other content in the tabs like SPB, we can only replace the graphics and alter a few settings.

The "Live Downloads" means that you can connect to my repository any time you wish and pull down any new appearance sets that are available. It may be a slight misnomer to call it "Live", but I couldn't fit "Appearance and Plugin Downloads" in the title of my thread.

Unfortunately no, there is no way to configure this behavior through the plugin or the customizer. If someone has an idea how we could possible "hijack" the button or the poutlook app, let me know and I'll try to work it into the customizer/background application.

It seems to be going to the 1st account alphabetically. Because for me it is going to my MMS account and that is the 1st one alphabetically for me. I bet if I create an IMAP one it will go to that one. Sounds like a problem with the code for the HTC Today plugin.

Actually, I'm usually the most demanding of craziness to put on device. I like what you've done here, but so far from what I can tell I will still need to use the WeatherPanel/Commuter app to have ability to see my traffic cams etc... and I will still need my WindowsLive app to get PushEmail from Hotmail.
Those programs take too much screen space to allow for anything else, and with these - the weather and email is already handled.

I've ran the Cube interface app for a while, but that was soon abandoned for functionality and didn't want to waste too much time on other screen mods until some things are worked out.

If someone knows how to get PushHotmail without using WindowsLive then let me know. Even just making it hidden from view would be great, as long as this other app would recognize when the email was delivered to the inbox.

The traffic cam sends snapshots which updates that picture every few minutes...the picturename does not change. If this functionality can be harnassed, then many other things will spin off. ;)

i just upgraded to 8. how do i get the battery bar back in the top corner? it still displays the clock...

in the next release we need to add an option for the TCPMP 0.8x as the default audio player or figure out how to add another tab to play video.

I opt for the later if possible.

I am glad to see the option to replace the time with the battery meter.
I was having to do that manually till this last release.

We need to add another reg edit function that will remove the battery meter from the bottom launch bar. As of right now I have to reg edit the following:

Remove the Battery Icon:

I can add that battery tweak, no problem. The problem will be getting another audio player to link with the Home plugin. I've been VERY busy learning C# and getting v1.0 ready (I'm about 70% complete, appearance and weather stuff is done), so I won't have a lot of time to check into the audio thing. If someone else could try to tackle that one, I'd be more than happy to include it as an option.

Check your PM... I know how to do this but I need to know exactly what you're looking for as there are a few options when it comes to this.

It doesn't require any hijacking and is basically a bunch of modified commands/.lnk's... the end result is your custom .lnk's (or app in your case) will link to the accounts just like the Today screen does.

I'm having trouble adding a picture on the "Favorite People" tab. I'll tap on a square which takes me to my contacts, I choose a contact and automatical goes back to the Favorite People screen but nothing changes.Still shows an X. Also, how do I delete an icon added to Launcher? I have a HTC PPC 6800

i just have a few questions (or perhaps they are future feature requests)

1. how to change the color of the Operator/Date on the first row, right now it is gray and hardly visible
2. can I actually remove the Operator/Date row to free up more screen space for SPB Diary?
3. I am running HTC Audio Manager in the last tab and the text color of the song details are in turquoise/light blue color and hardly visible....how can I change the color?
4. how can i change the application icons in the launcher tab? i don't really like these standard application icons

This is by far the greatest home plugin app. I installed it on my mogul and it works perfectly. The only problem is have is with the tab order/number. It doesn't change the number of tabs or their order. This might be a problem from the Kaiser plugin i previously installed. I'm going to try using the Kaiser plugin you linked and I'll see what happens. I figured I'd put this out there.

So yea, I was getting tired of not having anything on the far left of the clock when it's between the hrs of 1-9 so intead of leaving it empty *Left Image* i figured i'll add something, and thus i have this now *Right Image* lol

I just noticed and love the new feature on the weather forecast screen that let's you jump to the accuweather.com details for your selected city. Is there a way to change which weather website that link jumps to? I personally like wunderground.com better than accuweather. Thanks and keep up the great work!

I'll zip up what I have when I'm done with it tonight. I've got most of the customization options done, I just have to implement the backups and download features.

A couple questions:

1. Is it possible to hide the "tabs" at the bottom? (home, weather, music, etc.)
2. If it is, can you set them hidden any time "1 tab" is selected? I only use the "home" tab (really have no need for any of the others) It would be nice to gain that extra screen real estate.

Just an FYI. I have a PPC-6800 and I installed v.08 which went fine. Then when I tried to customize the background, clock, etc. the changes would not take. I tried a few things but still a no go. So I did a hard reset and reinstalled it. It worked perfectly and the changes took effect every time. So I started putting everything back and I found the problem. As soon as I put HTC X-Button 1.5 back on the problem returned. I took it off and everything was fine again. It seem that for some reason X-button is not letting the plugin "disable" in order to make the changes. I then tried vp3G's version of it and it worked fine until I disabled the quick menu on the today screen. So I either have to leave the icon up there or remember to put it back to make changes. Just something to be aware of if someone is having problems.

BTW keep up the good work!

I believe the problem with X-Button is when the setting is enabled to "End programs by tapping X". I use X-Button 1.5 and have had no problems after changing the setting to "End programs by tapping and holding X". You can change this in Settings -> System -> X-Button -> Button.
