Re: REDFLY Mobile Viewer Beta.

One thing I can think of -

Browsing at work (through your cell connection) without actually leaving a trace at work.

Yeah, I'm having a little trouble figuring out why you'd use this either.

Possible thoughts:

Tethering can be terribly slow in non-3G areas, so this might be a slightly better solution for mobile web browsing, especially if you can use a compressed browser like Opera 9.7

You could manipulate office docs on a computer without Office, although keeping a PC copy of OpenOffice Portable on the device is a better solution IMO.

GPS display on laptop?

Registry tweaking might be a little easier?

The best one I can think of: Testing and tweaking new mobile software from your desk without having to actually fiddle with the phone.

That really stinks :( After i started using it, all my menus text are alot smaller now. In regards to your issue, and I'm not saying you did this, but did you double check and make sure you installed the correct cab? Not sure why else your phone would be affected so badly.

I installed the touch screen wm6 cab. (RFP6_01040163.cab)

I think it might have conflicted with one of the special video drivers that I had installed ages ago (since they probably touch the same things..)

In the end, I was able to hard-reset based on the directions in this thread -

Good news is, I was wanting to try out a new rom anyways (my phone's been too stable lately:) )

I just got rid of redfly. Too many goofy things happening after i installed it (text in menus are now real dinky, tried to do a backup with sprite last night and got "fatal ARM 11 error with the redfly startup utility, backup failed.) I was able to get rid of it with memmaid and sktools. I liked my stable setup :) glad it's back.

This happened to me too. I've since uninstalled Redfly but the text on all my Windows Mobile menus remains small. I haven't found a way to revert back to the standard text size. Anyone have an idea?

I didn't have the problems with Redfly on my Diamond that a lot of other people experienced. It worked, but I didn't find it all that useful. I like My Mobiler because I can connect via IP address while tethering instead of via ActiveSync. Redfly only works via ActiveSync; if they had a connect via IP option I would've kept using it.

I am using MyMobiler, I couldn't get Redfly to install on my diamond. I use it to text message on my phone (this is nice). Plus screen shots.

Really though if I am going to do an email I just use my email client on my pc.
