This is one of the coolest apps I have ever seen. It is a g-sensor based shake detector that works as a program launcher that detects the "shake" direction of your device and launches the corresponding app assigned to that gesture. Here is the xda thread about it, as well as the dev's site. Although still in beta, it works very well. It gives a slight vibration (which can be disabled) when the gesture has been accepted, which happens pretty quickly. The sensitivity of shake detection can also be changed. You can assign a program to launch based on the direction you shake your device.

  • Top to bottom
  • Bottom to top
• Front & Back
  • Front to back
  • Back to front

Currently supported actions:

• Close/Minimize active window
• Dial a number
• Answer/Reject incoming call

• Ringer Loud/Vibrate/Silent
• Screen orientation
• Send Keys*
• Task Switch
• Turn On/Off screen
• WiFi On/Off/Toggle
• Media Controls#

*Please refer to readme.txt for sending special keys, which is in the attached zip file along with the .cab.

#Currently supported media players are

• Windows Media Player

• Manila (TF3D) Music Tab

You can add exceptions too. G-TriggerService will be suspended till the program specified in exceptions list is active.Your phone obviously must have a G-Sensor (accelerometer) for this to work. Although the dev only has tested it on his Diamond, there have been reports on it working on the Touch HD and also on the Omnia. I can personally confirm it works on the Touch Pro as well.

Also, if you don't want to leave it on all the time, there is a way to toggle it on/off other than start/stopping within the app. You can assign a softkey (or hardkey) to "G-TriggerService.exe"

first half of the day i installed it, it worked fine. But after a soft reset later in the day, it caused my phone to get really hot, because the battery drained down very fast. I went from 90% to 20% in less that 2 hours. After uninstalling it, everything is back to normal.

I've been running it for almost 24 hours now, and have not noticed any change in my battery life nor my phone getting hot. I've also read through all the reports over at xda, and haven't seen anyone saying anything about it being a battery drain or heating up their phone. I think/hope this is an isolated experience.


Also, v0.2.0 is out now, maybe wanna give it a try? It has a built in error logging feature that you can upload to the dev's xda thread.

C'mon Naut, when have you ever been a late adopter. Get in there soldier. Works perfectly on my TP running KK's Loaded v1.7, so don't hate me if messes up on yours.

I wanted to give everyone an update with this app. I was most concerned about how big of a battery drain this app would be. After testing for a couple days, I'm not really sure. I want to say that I lose an extra 4-5% leaving it on the whole day, but I'm not really sure. My house is in an area of extremely low service (although I live in the middle of my city), can't even use my phone while at my desk. Also, I'm always testing new programs.

However, I don't think it's as big of a battery drain that I was once worried about. Maybe others could share their experience with this app, let the community know.


Also, if you don't want to leave it on all the time, there is a way to toggle it on/off other than start/stopping within the app. You can assign a softkey (or hardkey) to "G-TriggerService.exe"

darren, might have to play with the sensitivity settings a little bit to get it how you like it, but report back in a couple days. Let us know what you think, and your review of its impact on battery life.

this is real close to being my favorite app. i was leary at first but after 5min. of using this app. im sold. shake the phone and opera launches, simple to use and does whats advertised. great saftey app. for my girl because i set one of the motions to activate h torch flashlite for her safety at night. the setup is simple and ive had not one glitch with this app.i also use it to launch second today and that eliminated launching from a softkey. big +1 for this app.

I assigned hTorch to both up and down directions since its all I wanted to launch when I vigorously shook my phone up and down. Upon soft reset, the service appeared as if it wasn't working. Shaking my phone didn't launch the app. It wasn't until I opened the config and stopped the service then started it again that the app launched when I shook my phone.

edit: After unchecking one of the motions (leaving top to bottom only now) and soft resetting, the service is working fine.

i like it so much im not updating unless battery drain is less, ive got htorch, googlemaps,nitrogen music player,opera,ie and screen toggle set and all work perfect.

I think it was mainly just a bug fix for some specific devices (HD and Omnia).


Side note: good choice of shortcuts, 4/6 of yours are the same as mine (no ie or screen toggle, I use em for 2 speed dials instead).

And glad to see you using Nitrogen music player, I like it almost as much as this app.


As far as the battery drain, I haven't really experienced much of one. Also, in the next release the dev has said that he will suspend service when the screen is turned off. Which is great when listening to music with Nitrogen, and will also decrease battery consumption.

Darren, have you really experienced that much of a battery drain with this app?

if it aint broke... its so easy to change what launches you can swap out every day if you think of something else you wanna launch. i put music id on and the fart and airhorn app. for the bar the other night. lol

music ID and the fart app are two of the best bar apps ever.

have you ever used Pocketender? It lets you lookup drinks and how to make them in case a bartender ever doesn't know what kind of drink you are talking about.

I used it a few times and forgot to reinstall it after my hard reset recently. Some of the drink names are refined. Like, I remember one of the drinks I searched for returned results for a few different ones, but one of them was what I wanted. Like, buttery nipple for example might not return buttery nipple exactly, but the drink it returns is exactly like a buttery nipple. (perhaps the author isnt from America and they call them different things elsewhere lol)

come to think of it, that would be a cool app to launch when you shook your phone like a bartender shakes a mixed drink :P

Yes. It does have a Progress Bar and a RAM Status Notification, but both of those can be turned off/on. Check it out, really great app.

New version out. The dev has really been at work adding new media players and expanding the features. Really like the option to disable actions when screen is off and the option to suspend service during phone call. First post has more details along with the complete changelog.

This app is the best. But I would love to have a setting that when you are in standby mode. it stops or when the screen goes back it stops. I was looking in the exceptions part. but couldn't get the exe for when the phone goes into standby mode. If someone can tell me how to do this I would appreciate it.

seems like the service isn't starting at startup with me anymore. I hadn't used it in a few days, but i tried it just now and it didn't work. config said the service was working, but it didn't work until I stopped the service and started it again.

anybody know if i can set it to open up the programs folder from the start menu? i dont feel like clickin start each time, what is the programs screen called in the windows directory
