[App] Advanced Network Caller ID v.5 (updated StandAlone GUI)
version .5 is out now- see the changelog at the bottom for more details.
This is a neat little app that lets you find out more about the person that just called you or sent you an sms. Read more about it on the developer's xda thread here. It waits until after the phone call is done (or ignored) then connects to the internet to find out more information about the call. Although it is in early alpha, it still works pretty well. Now works with all WM resolutions. Soft Reset after install. WM 5 or 6/6.1 .NET 3.5 is required http://www.kwatts.net/netcallerid/in.../image2931.jpghttp://www.kwatts.net/netcallerid/in.../image2991.jpghttp://www.kwatts.net/netcallerid/in.../image3011.jpg The following was taken from the devloper's xda thread: Quote:
- extended API. - updated GUI - better support for all wm platforms - numerous bug fixes Changes for v .4 - UI changes to work on all WM phones and resolutions (including QVGA 320x320) Changes for v .3 - Added logic to the add to contacts where if name is in address book prompt/don't add. - A full standalone app has been added where you can lookup past calls. - Added the program to the programs list. - Numerous bug fixes - SMS is now turned off by default. Some people were getting Very.Bad results where SMS messages were being swallowed. I *think* it should be fixed but unsure, it's something in the SMS .net interception library. If you really want SMS turn it on under config, do a soft reset, and if you see your not getting SMS messages immed. uninstall and let me know! - added whitepages.com lookups Direct Download Here |
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
I don't know if anyone else checked this out, but it didn't seem to install right for me. When installing i received the unexpected error has occurred. "File or assembly name 'OpenNETCF, Version=2.3.0.20, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=E60DBEA84BB431B7', or one of its dependencies, was not found" Also when installing it i lost being able to click on tf3d's text message to pull up the single message. If anyone else wants to uninstall, if you can't stop the process, delete the shortcut in the startup menu in the windows folder, restart then uninstall with the remove program.
Program sounds interesting though if any one gets it to work. |
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
Thats kinda scary...I dont want everyone I call having my address....

Are you running .net3.5? |
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
well I can tell you the data base is only as good as what is inputted into it.....I tried it out and was off on the "Carrier"...my GF is on Sprint and it said Verizon.
I can see it helpfull if the call is coming from a landline...but from a cell the info is pretty much useless. |

I accidentally left it out of the op, my apologies. I'll go back and add it. Quote:

Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
Wow! This sounds nice!!! Haha guess let me try it out!

Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
I wish there was a way to configure it to phone calls only or something like that. Text message conversations connect after each incoming text. I added them to contacts list but that froze my screen and had to soft reset. Maybe it is still a bit to alpha.

But yes this may be a little bit buggy as it is still in alpha, although I've found it to work quite well. |
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
Would have to agree with UZ....with Landlines this app works great if the call is not Private and so on.
But with Cell info, all you will get is Number and Carrier well that is what I got which is no help if you need info on the caller, now my Carrier info from my friends were right. |
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
Tried it out. It still shows a cell number that was ported from metropcs to Sprint. Says confidence somewhat reliable no other info.

Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
Has anyone tested this with S2U2 the latest version 1.52? Just curious. i'm going to try it now. i will advise.
|
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
I installed this and it seems to work fine with s2u2 version 1.52. However, the program is not listed in my program files. How to you get to the configuration screen as posted in the #1 post to change SMS notifications. I also went to the remove programs, and it was posted there, but can't seem to find the application it to get into the configuration settings. Any ideas??
|
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
go to where you intstall it...if it was in the "Device" then check the "Program folder" for it I believe it was called "NetCallID"...I removed it already and open the CallID Config file.
bored....yea it was kinda strange that it said Verizon, the phone is set to "Sprint Only"...ooowelllll, this app is awesome if you get alot of landline calls/spam, now if you can get the same info for Cells...all I would say is holycrap..LOL...maybe one day. |

I wrote the FuzeMobility article and I have been speaking with the developer - he's trying to figure out the .Net2.0 warning which occurs even if .Net3.5 is installed BUT the warning is meaningless as the app works even with that error message provided you have 3.5 installed. |
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
Got it!! Thanks! Works pretty well from land line calls. I called it from my home phone and the information was dead on. Had my wife and i listed with our ages and alias names.
|
Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
What about private calls does it detect the number? I was looking at other software but is not available for sprint yet and only works on t-mobile which is trapcall and this app will decode private calls and give you the number.

Re: [3/18] [App] Advanced Network Caller ID
Actually, I just decided to uninstall this app because I was having problems with it when waking my phone. As soon as S2U2 would come on screen, the top was superimposed with the .netcallerid apps header. Also, I am running the Manila HD port and a couple of times today I have seen the same issue with the top of this app superimposing over the top of TF3D.
Very cool app and I am sure that the bugs will get worked out, but for now I am going to pass. |

Goodgets - I just saw this and will give it a try. Thanks for the work.
|
Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2
I made a post over on xda asking for apptodate support... since this seems like it's still developing, it would be nice to have that around to make updates quick.
|
Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2
I think all apps or programs should have in the Option's to check for update or auto update checker clickable Option :) but this app has come in handy already!

nowadays number portability has made the matter much more complex As for this app its a neat Idea but it is slower than my roomates last date.... and lacks features that will hopefully be adressed in future updates IE Only check a specific number once and create a DB entry for it so that it can remeber the information it has already looked up... and perhaps an app interface rather than using a web browser IDK anyway hope that sheds some light on the number thing |
Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2
I find that the display when it pops up is very very small and hard to read.
|
Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2
sounds great, going to try this on my pro tonight.
|
Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2
Had problems with this and just removed....it was popping up at wierd times and often times half was hidden behind TF3D and i could only see the email address of the author at the top
|
Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2
Well it has been working fine for me so far I hope it stays that way :-?

Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2

Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2
Goodgets -
Have you considered adding any calling functionality like sending calls directly to voicemail? I know SPB Phone Suite has this functionality but I do not like the app. never the less - great app and thanks for your work. |

The dev has addressed a couple of 'to do's' for future releases, like not looking up the info if the caller is already in your contacts. However, I don't think any pre-call functionality will be added since this app is designed to take effect after a call. But who knows, a lot of the devs over at xda are capable of some pretty amazing things. |
Re: [3/19] Advanced Network Caller ID v.2
For some reason I cannot get this to install. I click on the CAB and it acts like it's gonna install but just hangs there. Anyone wanna help?

Maybe you were asking if any non Touch Pro users have tried it? In that case I don't believe they have. @Coz, Actually no users other than TP/Fuze users, even over in the xda thread, have tried it on their device yet; however, it is posted in the Raphael software forum so other device users might not see it. That's why I put it in the TP forum. I was gonna message you when the xda thread got more feedback. However, maybe someone here not using at TP would like to give it a try and report back? (the usual disclaimer applies- not responsible for any damage to your device, etc.) |
