opera mobile

Re: What mobile browser are you using?

I use like 4 browsers depending on my needs:

1.) Opera Mini - For most "browsing" meaning reading web pages. Because it's so damn fast.

2.) Opera Mobile - For websites that require live javascript interaction.

3.) Internet Explorer - When I want to download something real quick and want fast launch times, or I want it as a launching point for FlashVideoBundle/TCPMP. Though WVD has taken most of those tasks.

4.) Skyfire - Flash/Silverlight content (hulu.com, etc..).

Re: What mobile browser are you using?

Opera mobile for general stuff ( mostly cracked.com)
iris for fark.com and i-phone friendly websites (torchmobile.com)
and ie for stubborn sites at work ( that are ie6 optimized)
and skyfire for multimedia browsing

+1 for UCWEB, very fast for me....and not that the java (bleh) version neither.
Xda discusses it here....as has links for cab files.

Re: What mobile browser are you using?

I also say there is definitely a NEED for all four of the main browsers depending on what u r doing:
1. operamine with the latest java is hands down the best and most used for speed, quick zoom, scrolling and the way it renders like a desktop.

2. IE is used the second most especially on the mobile formatted websites (news, sports, and tech sites like ppcgeeks wap). I think for wap sites it may still be a pretty fast browsers.

3. the skyfire is pretty amazing all the videos galore!

4. opera mobile is another awesome browsers that's good for that desktop feel, u can go into secure sites more safely like bank and stock accounts and even my sprint accnt.

I think all 4 are great for their own strong points would use them all if I were you.

I don't want to fire up an old thread, but Iris was updated recently. You can play videos straight off the page, I have 3.1 flash lite installed and I'm sure it is using this. It is leaps and bounds ahead of Opera Mobile which is a memory hog! If you type in iphone.facebook.com it will take you to what is essentially the iphones facebook. It is much better than previous builds which were terrible, it is actually fast too!!! Much, MUCH faster than Opera Mobile! The text is a good size, and they fixed the problem it had when switching to landscape in previous builds! Check it out! BTW, it is VGA, and heres a link:

How does this differ from the iphone.facebook.com that you get on Opera?

No difference, except that its not a system hog like opera mobile. And it is much faster imo. I think it runs on webkit which is same as safari from iphone, but im not sure.

This Iris browser is nice. You can tab through forms easily and seems more responsive to touch. The only thing I do not like is it doesn't save login information :-(

I'd like to know more about this. I've got OperaMini installed and I really like it (Opera Mobile was driving me mad!) - but the main issue I have with it is entering text - even URLs. When I click a text box - the screen goes white, and anything I type is in a tiny, tiny font at the top of the screen. If I manage to type correctly (since I can't see it at all), everything works fine. I need to check what version of java I'm using (it is a jbed version though).

Thanks!

Re: Looking for good Mobile browser

I have kinda spoiled myself lately.

I got a great deal on a 16 gig ipod touch & have been using that for browsing instead of my phone lately. OMG, safari is awesome. I already knew that, but never really had time to see just how great it is before.

Between the incredibly bright, super responsive screen & the fabulous browser I'm not sure I will ever use a PPC browser again.

Opera Mini seems to come the closest to mimicking Safari & that's why I like it, but as long as the touch is handy I will certainly grab that first for browsing the net or playing ripped DVD movies.............

Best Browser

Ok, months ago I always wanted a browser that I could gotto any video website and watch videos on my Touch Pro. I wanted to be able to press the enlarge screen button like I do on my PC and have it actually go wide screen. But after having alot of time with SkyFire(none VGA videos but still the best video enabled browser), Opera with Flash Lite 3.1(Which played videos very rough), and now the new internet explorer(Which isnt that bad in my opinion with Videos other than the issue with slow page loading. So I wanted to start a poll to see what browser will do the best with my fellow ppcer's. And no I will not include Fennice. Its not official yet.

edit: If there is a browser you wish to vote for but is not present just add the request in a quick reply. Thanks

I for one vote for the opera 9.5 especially the version from the new official diamond ROM (15954). It's fast with the loading and it's compatible with flash.

we told you that this Flash-enabled browser could seriously turn the mobile-browsing game on its head. Dynamic Flash, AJAX, Java, Skyfire’s got all the angles covered.
