Re: Virtual Shotgun

Thanks Mike!

i loaded the updated version. Works better since it's not so sensitive, but not very consistent. Maybe the way that I am trying to use it, plus my screen dimmed and when I pressed the power to get it back the screen was funky, came back after a minute or so. Anyway to hard code the firing to the round button or to a screen touch? that may do away with the sensitivity issue sense movement would only be for racking a round.

LOADS of fun!! I have been "shooting" people evey chance I get!! LOL

Re: Virtual Shotgun

The app is really cool, Mike (i use it on my HD, and it displays right with VGA bruteforce); just a couple of thoughts:
- cannot exit the app (the only way is to shut it down via task manager)
- everytime i use it, the app fills the folder where it's placed with temp files
- any chance to have animations and other weapons as well? (something like iGuns)

1. Exiting should be via the round button! - If its not working I will check my code;
2. Yeah I know about that - Am in the process of sorting that out too.
3. Is the shotgun not animated? - Im sure it shows the gun pumping up and down? - Do you want firing animation too? Also having more than one gun type detracts from the original idea of this as being a virtual shotgun! Maybe I will have a go at more virtual guns when I have time!

Mike.

thanks for your answer, mike. well:
1. I don't see any round button on my HD, only the gun and a blue text (i use vga bruteforce to show the app [almost] full screen on my wvga, but also without this trick i don't see any button)
3. i've given a closer look, and yes, the pump animation is there, but it's so fast it's almost invisible. Anyway yes, should be cool to have the firing as well

i've to add a 4. as well
4. i think there's a problem with the sensor reading in your app. Sometimes i slightly move my phone and the movement is catched and the gun double-charges and fires with a single movement; other times i shake it very hard but nothing happens... It's a bit frustrating trying to shot someone this way

Well this app is by no means finished! ha ha - I knocked it up in a couple of hours - so its no surprise that its a bit twitchy.

When I get some dev time I will refine it for you all.

The sensor is triggered when the phone is vertical and moved up and down, then the shot is triggered whtn the phone is horizontal and moved forward and back. It is possible that your sensor needs calibrating? - Mine was well off until I calibrated it, now its more usable

I have ideas for other sensor apps so watch this space (PPCWhip, PPCGrenade, PPCChainsaw etc) - those should keep you sensor freaks happy for a while!

Regards

Mike.

Nope, sensor is ok: it rotates the screen almost instantly with changescreen, and calibration is perfect with Bubble Level, tether, resco bubbles and G-Alarm. Maybe the trigger is different between diamond and HD (but i think it shouldn't, since both use the same sensorsdk).

Re: Virtual Shotgun

LOL, perfect for home defense, there is nothing like the sound of a 12 guage being pumped to get somebody out of your house.

This thread is too funny, I have to send this to my gun obsessed buddie, heck he will probably buy a smart phone just for this app.

Re: Virtual Shotgun

Tryed both on Omnia 1910, nothing. Probibly because its using the HTC's sensor?
It would be great to see a version using the omnia's accelerometer!
