Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
Dont get me wrong i like the look and the functions of the program...in fact resco makes grade A apps i use resco explorer, backup, weather, online...any way the issue im having is the app somehow loses the ability to tell if a number is a listed contact. Which is a core function. someone calls or text and the first 10 or so calls/text its fine, then all of a sudden it list the same person as unknown. it even blocks windows os as well. my basic call log also says unknown for people already in the phone book who it identified correctly before.

Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
Ok ok i know its a Beta...i love beta testing. But after the updates its still doing the same thing. Geez Resco it wont allow out going calls again and this is the third version I have had on my phone. I havent lost faith...yet.

well I tried the program - didn't work so I uninstalled. Now my stock WM6.1 contacts program is gone!! I get an error message that says:
"The file ':RPMContacts' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file." I'm clueless as to what to do! Attached is the screen shot of the error message. Help! Thanks. Jack |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
i think the program ruins the pim file somehow...it erased my pim and i had to restore my contacts from vufone. You can restore from pim backup or whatever you use. the uninstall doesnt work completely so you may need to clean up the left over files with mem maid or something.

Now I'm more confused - you say pim backup or vufone - I use microsoft activesync to sync my contacts with outlook on my desktop. Is that what you mean? Or are you suggesting a FULL backup from my backup program which happens to by Resco Backup? Again, my contacts are still there as I can access them from a 3rd party contact manager - I think it's the basic Contacts program that is either gone, or the link isn't targeting it anymore. The contacts.lnk targets :RPMContacts - I don't know what that is but when it's opened it produces that error message. Thanks. |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
lol I just mean restore however you normally do...i personally use vufone. But what seem happen is the program eats away at the pim somehow...then if you uninstall it doesnt erase everything. So even if you restore the left over resco files will screw up your contacts until you clean them out or hard reset. A full backup may work but if you installed on the main mem and not the SD that still may not work. your contact button is still looking for the resco program and generating an error when it doesnt find it.

Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
sorry but you're way ahead of me - I'd love to get rid of all the resco contact beta files but I don't know where to begin to look for them? and, of course I did install on the main mem.
I've never done a hard reset then full restore - sort of think that's the last thing I want to do but maybe it's easy? Can't help but think the device will never come back the way I left it after a hard reset. so any suggestions as to how to go about cleaning out the left over files? thanks for hanging in there with me. :) |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
haha Resco back up...geez. Sigh. Ok well that is easy and it should be fine. but lets hold off on that i guess. Do you use resco file explorer? If so do a search for the file in the error message or any related to resco contact manager and deleat them. Soft reset...then hit the contact button and see what happens.:thumbleft: I use resco back up...it just acts funny sometimes.

I searched for all files not older than 6 hours ago - as that's when I started this mess. stuff came up but nothing that stood out as a resco file - there was one named "pim.vol" - not sure what that is? |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released

Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
well you can try cheating...load something like pocket cm which should take control of your contacts...other than doing a restore which is normally easy and painless. Because resco does a good job of taking over
|
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
went ahead and did a full backup -so far so good. contacts came back - not sure if everything's back, though
thanks for all your help - NO MORE BETAS for me. :) |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
I run beta's at my own risk but this one is a bit more buggy than normal. Even with the last two updates it erased my whole phone book twice re mapped buttons, did some pretty funky reg edits as well. At the last straw it blocked me from making out going calls and forced me to hard reset thats a bit to unstable even for me. It was even messing with Manilla on a pretty broad scale im not sure what its trying to do...but it doesnt do it very well right now.

Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
the first two were a lil buggy but the last one was a nightmare...i reloaded my whole contact list for the third time this morning then it froze my calls somehow. The phone was showing no signal but would show evdo and allow data...idk. I got tired of messing with it myself

Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
I've heard that the only version with which users can actually make phone calls is 0.91. Can someone please post a cab for that version.
Thanks in advance. |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
this program totally froze up my phone, at first i thought it was legit and was happy with its application, and then the s*** hit the fan and nothing was working, maybe it was my phone or the program, but i deleted the program....and phone is back to normal

I don't know about .91, but I have been using the .90 build and it has been working out great for me. I have had no issues knock on wood.

Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released

I'm getting the same message on my Xperia! i.e. The file ':RPMContacts' cannot be opened. Great! Has anyone got any ideas on a fix? Regards, Alan](*,) |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
Yeah, read through the last three pages or so there were a few ideas for a fix. In short it's just that the shortcut still points to resco and not the built in contacts program.

Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
Yes you can sort by company, it also has a default to open by company setting. Have a look further inside the settings.
You'll find them |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
Same as on my HTC Touch. It wont make phone calls from the contact list.
Beta still has stufff to work out. |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
Other than the fact that beta cant make phone calls. I think this is the best contact mgr. I've seen yet.
Excellent config settings. Biggest up on icontact is that finally it will sort by company name. needs a contact edit interface. needs direct link to contact website. i even like the today plugin Resco my hats off! |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
I also am very excited about a working demo (That I can actually call). Seems pretty useless now though. Love the looks though
|
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
does anyone have version 0.91 they can send me? i have the issue of the newer version then that, even 0.98, opening phone settings when i try to diall out or press send button
you can email it to me if you like ty |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
I'd be willing to bet you there fully aware of the phone dialing bug. After all, when the Program releases it does you no good like that. That way there's no need to build any license into the beta.
If the beta was fully functional who would buy it. Not saying I agree or disagree with the logic, its just a thought. -Scott |
Re: Resco Contact Manager - Public Beta Released
I would have to agree with ya sponge, I was thinking the samething.
