Battery Icon: How to Replace (5 versions)

6 Attachment(s)
Got this shamelessly from XDA Forums (that place rocks btw) from Jimm98y:

DOES NOT WORK ON THE TREO 700w/wx!

Basically, this will replace your Battery meter with a different one. I'm using the 6th version (page #2) which is much more informative than the "default" icon, but I'm posting all five here.

It works for me but USE AT OWN RISK (do a backup jik!)

Instructions:
1) install SdkCerts.cab
2) install greenbatteryfix.cab
3) softreset

Version #1

Version #2

Version #3

NEW! Version #4 (best one, imo)

(Version #4 Posted down this page!)

yeah, they're definitely not perfect (e.g. tiny numbers) but it's a nice change-up.

Big D5 08-29-2006 06:55 AM

Man, now what do I do with my clock? The battery is nice I am going to use it. 8)

wingzero 08-29-2006 08:29 AM

This sure looks nice, especially version #3. I'll give it a shot at my Own Risk. :D Thanks Malatesta.

Wideawake 08-29-2006 08:37 AM

so check it: Althought I liked #3 a lot I thought the numbers were a bit too small so I wrote the guy who made them and asked for a change, which is now reflected in version #4 posted here!

I've been waiting for something like this for a long time as I always found the battery icon pretty useless. I can make sense of a number!

Awesome!

ohhh snap I may have to give those a try, are they bigger? Hey did this change ur call history look? Because I installed something that changed my call history look, and the only thing I installed was these.

~mike

They're a lot bigger...very legible now.

re: Call history. I don't think so. I mean, I don't use my call history that often so I haven't really memorized all the details but it looks the same and all the info is there...

What exactly changed?

Wideawake 08-29-2006 01:44 PM

yea all the info is there, just the background is white and the incoming outgoing icons are black. I mean its not bad looking and still serves its purpose but something changed it I installed the 1st and the 3rd one. Hmm I don't think anything else done it. I may hard reset and test them out by themselves.

Another hijacked thread, but to answer your question, some of the new dialer skins change these. You probably used the new dialer skins that are out and that changes them.

Wideawake 08-29-2006 01:53 PM

nope default skin and I haven't even installed any.

Big D5 08-29-2006 02:03 PM

How about O2 plus last call, I installed that and it changed the call history

Wideawake 08-29-2006 02:08 PM

nope I have only installed tcpmp, mms, magic button, pocket rar, pie plus, new menu, screen capture, total commander, and these. so I dunno. oh well its no biggie and ill try and track it down and let yall know.

bunnytrigger 08-29-2006 02:45 PM

thank you sir, i just need to figure out how to instal them once i get home :D

Malatesta 09-02-2006 12:24 AM

Version 6!! Best yet.

Okay, now THIS is the best version!

Unforutnately, our devices DON'T count by single increments, so don't expect that to happen. Still, this retains the "battery" feel with very clear and legible numbers.

Just install the .cab file!

wingzero 09-02-2006 09:56 PM

Seems like there's a new version come out every other day. I can't keep up. :toothy10:

drunken_monky 09-04-2006 05:01 AM

I've tried to install several of these, and none change my battery icon. This is supposed to alter the icon on the bottom right of today screen? Any ideas?

Ryan

schettj 11-30-2006 06:24 PM

Installed one in my sprint 6700, soft-reset - and... shazam - new battery. Very nifty

Seems to need that soft reset to kick in.

How do I get that one to show up? Is there a settings page I go to for it?

Wideawake 12-01-2006 01:30 AM

nope install reset and bam its just there ;)

SpeedDemon 12-01-2006 12:04 PM

thx man looking very nice! ANd with numbers you don't have to press the icon to see how much is left.

thedocrn 12-01-2006 01:48 PM

Just install the .cab file!

I installed SdkCerts.cab & greenbatteryfix.cab and SOFT RESET, but I don't see the icon change on the top.. Do I have to install the previous versions first?

dcdave63 12-01-2006 03:39 PM

I think my question would answer the last post too.

I didnt see a text file with instructions on the final update...

Do I need to download and unzip one of the other choices to get the instructions?

Wideawake 12-01-2006 03:42 PM

yea download one from first post and see if its there, I will try it post the instructions in the first post later....
~mike

Dinomon1 12-01-2006 03:55 PM

Thanks Wideawake. I downloaded the first post and installed, still NO luck. For some reason only greenbatteryfix.cab is shown in my 'REMOVE PROGRAMS' list. SdkCerts.cab doesn't show anywhere.

Wideawake 12-01-2006 04:00 PM

If im not mistaken that will not show and its just a cert. anyways I posted the instructions in the first post. Sorry ur having issues but this isnt my app, what device are you using? I have an apache and all is well.
~mike

Dinomon1 12-01-2006 04:16 PM

I am using Treo 700wx and followed the same instructions.

Wideawake 12-01-2006 04:31 PM

thats why the treos battery meter is completely different from all others. it will not work on ur treo. ;)
~mike

Dinomon1 12-01-2006 05:41 PM

but I thought Mal (post 1) hd 700wx, that his works..

Malatesta 12-01-2006 06:01 PM

This was posted waaay back with my 6700. the 700wx was not out at the time.

Dinomon1 12-02-2006 09:59 AM

well that explains..

thedocrn 12-04-2006 02:00 PM

Got it working. Problem was I didn't have a new ROM update (was runnin like 1.03 or something) Yes I do have an Apache and this batt meter is fantastic! Great work

dannzeman 02-13-2007 05:19 PM

tried installing this and can't get it to work. i have the apache w/ aku 2.2. I installed the certs.cab then the batteryfix.cab and reset but I don't see it. Come to think of it, ever since I put aku 2.2 on it i haven't seen the battery icon in the upper right corner. Whats wrong here?

rusty 12-12-2007 03:32 PM

I'm getting dual battery icons. one original on the left, and the new colored one on the right. Tried uninstalling, but it still shows two battery icons in the task bar. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm using the Sprint HTC touch

Sprints700wx 12-12-2007 04:33 PM

ii Know i ceena few people trying it ona 700wx.. but willl this ever be compatable with 700wx? this app looks sweet..
