I was actually thinking about this the other day but I do not know anything about writing programs. Do you want to do this as a plugin or a gui to lay on top of wm covering the start bar.

I can send you some of my ideas on this if you like. I sat down and wrote some things that I would think about doing if ever learned how to do something like this.

I've installed Android on my Touch, though, so I can see first-hand how things within the OS work. What I'm working on will emulate the Android Home. Pretty much three screens that you can create shortcuts on to any program, contact, or web page. I'm also thinking about putting in support for XML plugins, but that's gonna be further down the line.

I'd love to give something like this a try as well, I have been itching for and android ROM for my touch, but this might satiate my thirst for something new.

Basic functionality is slowly being worked on (I say slowly because my laptop is giving out on me), but a new computer is in the pipe for me. Hopefully I'll release a test version soon to get reactions and suggestions.
