Alternative to Google Sync and OggSync for Google Calendar

Hey everyone,

If someone has a solution for this issue I'd love to hear it, or an alternative program suggestion.

On my Imagio (and perhaps all TouchFlo HTC devices?), when I use Google Sync with ActiveSync, my calendars are slow to update. For instance, I have to let it sit at the monthly calendar page for 10 or more seconds before it will populate the events, and again if I switch to day, agenda, etc. That delay is weird and makes checking my schedule on the fly cumbersome. I've not found a solution. If you have a thought, let me know.

I've tried Oggsync and it seems to work perfectly for what I want to do, however the $30 price tag (YEARLY!) is pushing me away, and I really need the auto-sync to function, so pro is the only way to go.

So, what I need is two-way sync with auto-updating (on a schedule like every hour or whatever is fine). I only need it to work with one Google Calendar, but multiple calendars would be a neat bonus.

Any suggestions on a fix or an alternative program/service?

Thanks!

Re: Alternative to Google Sync and OggSync for Google Calendar

I've been using Nuevasync for a couple of years now with no problems. Will require your sole activsync connection so if you're already using that to sync with something else then this won't work. It's free unless you want to add more than some number of calendars (can't remember what the number is) or if you want to sync your gmail contacts as well. Hope that helps.

Ooh, if that plays nice (I have this sinking suspicion that this is actually an issue with Activesync and TouchFlo rather than Google Sync, but we'll see), that sounds perfect!

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to play with it later today.

Re: Alternative to Google Sync and OggSync for Google Calendar

Just an update.

It appears the issue is that HTC's calendar takes awhile to "paint" items that are set to reoccur. I redid my calendar and stripped out a lot of those and it sped up the time needed to paint them in, but it was still kinda slow and obnoxious.

So I found ThumbCal (http://thumbapps.com/web/pages/thumbcal/overview.php) and WOW, what a great program. Just took the HTC calendar off of my TouchFlo bar and use this exclusively. Purchased it about 2 hours after I installed the demo. Instant painting, finger friends, integrated tasks. It combines all of the best components of the HTC's calendar, the normal WM Outlook calendar, and then adds a lot of neat features on top of it.

Thank you again, though, djheir, for pointing me toward Nuevasync. I'm switched to that for contacts and calendars (contacts are free as well) as it's far more robust than Google's own Sync is anyway. For email I've just got an IMAP account programmed into the phone. Perfect!
