htc touch pro mass text messaging
 

is there a way to make the htc touch pro be more user friendly for text messaging. when i try to send a mass text i have to choose recipients individually. is there a way to have it so when i choose recipients i just check off which people from my contacts that i want to send it to?

You might check out PowerSMS. It has a group texting feature that allows you to select people right from your contacts list. It's all quite easy.

I wish there was a free alternative. They stopped their beta program, and now you have to buy the program.

That's one 'irk' I have with Windows Mobile--a lot of stuff that is considered "core functionality," on every other phone in existance, you have to BUY from a 3rd-party.

With that said, I love(d) PowerSMS, while it was free. The only thing I didn't like is that I hard-reset all the time, for new ROMs/etc, and I would lose my "groups" that take forever to set up. I was hoping that a newer version would let you save/archive your set groups, so that you could just import them later.

I used a program called GroupSMSApplication on the Mogul. Seems to "run" on the Touch Pro, but I haven't sent an official mass text with it yet.

I just noticed in the registry, with the new version, it has your saved groups in there. I haven't tried backing them up to see if I can restore them later, but it looks like it can be done. On the old version it was saved somewhere that I could not find it. I think it was actually in the executable itself.

I would think that powersms leaves a bigger footprint on your phone then grpsms.. because of all the extra options....

something missing from win mo that i loved on my SEP910, was the ability to compose a txt msg and then schedule a time for it to be delivered... so for example....

i get on the train and have no signal but i can write my txt msg and schedule it to send in an hour when i know i'll be out of the tunnels.... this way i dont forget to send it

or compose an txt to as a wake-up call to someone and make sure it gets delivered at 5am without me having to get up....

its def a convienience thing, if someone knows how or if there is a program that does it i would love to get my hands on it...

I've been looking for the same thing, it would be a really great feature to have for the same reasons you listed, hopefully someone knows of a program.

But honestly, I just dont see why I cant just go into my contacts and either select all or use the ctrl button and pick the people I would like to send the txt to, and just send the message. Its crazy to have to pay for that. Well let me know when I have to pay to copy n paste also. lol

Whenever I try to mass message without any of these applications it will only send 10 messages at a time and I need to keep clicking retry, anyone else?

i think the limit is 10. Sometimes you can squeak by with more. I've sent as many as 20 at a time.

Yeah I've always had this problem with my Touch Pro.. It only allows me to send 3 texts at a time! On my old sanyo I was able to send 25 texts at a time. Why is mine only limited to 3? This sucks eggs. Anyone know why this is a problem and how to resolve it without installing some kind of mass texting program that may require me to have to hard reset? :(

I just use Group SMS 1.48 works wonders for me. Very easy if you have groups set up in outlook. It is free and does not require a hard reset.

I really have no idea why mine only lets me do 3. I've had this phone since mid December and it's always had that problem. If I try to send more than 3 it locks up and I have to soft reset or it just turns off.

So group SMS 1.48 eh? I saw someone above stating that they have to hard reset a lot with a group sms app.. Anyone else have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks for everyone's input so far!
