GPS with Speed Limits

Any of the GPS software for the mobile phones have speed limits.

If you're asking for a program that shows you the speed your are moving, ie a speedometer, then yes GPSToday does this. There are also several stand alone speedometer programs such as GPS Speedo. If you're looking for a program that shows you the posted speed limit, I'm not sure there is one.

igo8 tells you your speed, the speed limit of the area you are in (if available) and will warn you if you are speeding. You just have to go into the settings to enable the speed warning.

It also has the ability to add/import speed camera data so you can be warned when you are coming up on a speed camera.

tracky is another one that will show your speed and has an alert you can set to sound if you go over a certain speed.

iGuidance by iNav *knows* the speed limits for the road your driving on. In my use I'd say it's accurate about 2/3rds of the time.

The latest TomTom navigator version also gives current speed and the speed limit for major roads. You can also set an alarm for when you surpass these limits.

GPS today states that it will not work with any smart phone. Is this true? It sounds like just what I've been looking for in a GPS program but I don't want to mess with it if it's not going to work.

GPS Today works fine in my Titan although I rarely use it.

By the way, I would be VERY CAREFUL about relying too much on any GPS programs stated speed limits. That readout is built into the map data & it can be wrong.

I just noticed an example of this today on my way to work. I have the latest version of Garmin Mobile XT installed to the 16 gig card in my Titan & was playing around with it on my way in to work. There is a road I drive down where the speed limit is 45mph & occasionally has a radar trap in the middle of it that is 100% totally concealed until you are right on top of it. My Valentine1 R/D occasionally gives me a heads up on it.

I just happened to notice today that Garmin was stating that the speed limit on that road was 55mph which it most definitely IS NOT (& never has been). If you where going say 57 mph down there when the radar was set up you would absolutely get a ticket (It happened to one of my co-workers on his way in one morning)

I'm pretty sure Nav4All has this feature too (where available) and is free (as in beer).
