Pocket Express the right choice?
Hi, I've been using Pocket Express to check news, weather, sports, entertainment, etc. It works really well for me, but should I be considering other solutions?

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
I thinks its fairly decent and I have not seen anything other than SPB Online thats comes close. I think PE has a lot more content and if i remember right it has a today plugin with weather and news. I use SPB insight and Mobile Shell (currenly anyways) to get those same features.

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
I agree with propagandaX. It's pretty nice software, and if it's working well for you, there's no reason to find anything else. dschoenike

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
the only reason i dont use some of the awesome custom roms here is because the pocket express only seems to work well in the stock wm 6.1. i have to have it.

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
you might want to look at Journal Bar... it's a Today Screen plugin app that provides weather, news, stocks etc. Here's a link, there's a free trial...

"Journal Bar"
Yes I agree with darren.wlsn1 it isn't free! I use Pocket Express, I think it's great. I always check out what local movies are playing using the local movie listings. Does anyone else use that? |
Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
Thanks for your insight. As I've been thinking about it I realize that a value for Pocket Express is the consolidation of good content, both informational and action-oriented.

i been using pocket express sisnce i first got my 800w...i like the weather portion with radar..u can have more than 1 location..cool
also strange news can be funny at times |
Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
i wish Pocket Express was more thumb friendly. Seems like they have a different interface for the Sprint Instinct that was much easier to use, IMO.

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
Thanks for feedback. In addition to consolidation of content, an additional benefit is that an app works off-line. I can "synchronize" when in range, then "read" when out of range. During my commute I go underground a lot, so this is useful.

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
Interesting comment about thumb-friendliness. I've always used it with WM and a stylus touchscreen.
Another benefit for Pocket Express is that it synchronizes efficiently. They don't bother with downloading pictures because it takes bandwidth and slows everything down. |
Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
There is a littlel bit of a "newspaper" quality to pocket express. I can "browse" or I can read deeply. Although I normally think of it as a 3-5 minute activity, I could easily spend 30-60 minutes getting my daily news fix.

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
I find Pocket Express really usefull, i decided to keep that one.

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
Newspaper is a good analogy in some ways. There's an interesting combination of data, information, and opinion. Neatly delineated, btw.

Re: Pocket Express the right choice?
Okay, now for my "news of the weird" post from Pocket Express: The British strip club industry argues that lap dancing is not sexual, in order to reduce licensing restrictions. Wonderful...
