I really would NOT advise anybody to do this. I made the mistake of telling it to be the default browser when I installed it. Then, whenever it had one of its many server glitches I couldn't open an email link at all. That is my biggest concern about this thing, everytime the server glitches you can't connect at all. Then, I unchecked the default browser box probably 10 times in a row & the damn thing kept rechecking the box on its own........

Whenever the server would hiccup, the ONLY way I could open an email link (& I get them all the time) was to copy the link & then paste it into Opera (good thing it's not like a POS iphone that can't copy & paste anything).

LMFAO that made my day! Back on topic, I use Skyfire more than Opera myself and I was tempted to make it my default also, but after reading this Im so glad I didnt.

This thing is really starting to irritate me. I got an email tonight with a link in it & when I clicked on it skyfire opened up again.

I'm like WTF is with this thing, every single time I open it the first thing I do is uncheck the "set as default" box. At that point, I opened & closed it 25 times in a row. Every single time the box was checked as the default again & I'm sure it still is at this point.

I do like using this app at times, but if it keeps doing this I will eventually get so fed up that I will uninstall it & wait for a version that will work the way it is supposed to........

AARG!!!!!!!!

I just received an email with a link & of course skyfire opened up once again.

This time however, it sat forever on the authenticating screen & then came back with that invalid user name & password error!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought that problem was totally solved, if I didn't LOVE my phone it might well have gone out the window at that point.............

the more i use this, the more i hate the zooming function.

they should have left it alone.
after about 5 scrolls you get constant checker boxes, annoying

Boy, do I ever agree with that. The zooming function flat out sucks IMHO.

I have an 8 year old daughter playing soccer & a 19 year old son playing college football.

Yesterday, I was at my daughter's soccer game & I had the college website running on my phone as it gives running real time play by play updates on what is going on in the football game. The problem is, on the college site in the box where the play by plays is running the text is way too small to read on the PPC without zooming way in.

With skyfire, I would zoom it in about 4 levels so I could read it just fine but on every single play update it would jump back out to the original zoom setting & I would have to start all over again.

After this happened about six times, I switched over to Opera 9 & everything was fine from then on. In Opera, it was MUCH MUCH easier to read the constantly updated plays & the zoom level never changed from my original setting.

They must fix the zoom, it's one of those irritants that will eventually become a deal breaker...

It is unfortunate that you all are having issues with Skyfire, IMHO this is still the best option available. There are drawback with every one of the top options but with the upgraded video and ability to download I have Skyfire set as my defalt brouser and I have been very happy with it. I This is a Beta so you should expest some issues but all in all for me the benefits far out way this issues.

I agree with you....it is the best available, and has really elevated the bar in mobile browsing. My issues are not with it being a "beta", as I too expect it to be less than perfect. However, the zoom function really needs to be re-designed and simplified. As is, it's just too much work...

The previous zoom version is much better, not sure why they decided to change the zoom but it suck. Hope Skyfire engineer heard our word and change it back
