I can tell you, as an alpha tester on this release the problems you're experiencing tonight are from the stress the servers and under from the massive number people upgrading at once and clogging the servers. Beta .80 is not intended to be a completed product, but a gradual evolution to what will eventually become Skyfire 1.0.

Performance wise this release is the fastest and most stable release to date-- with that said, give the sever congestion time to cool down and you'll see just how snappy a performer Skyfire has become. During the months of testing I've seen performance levels surpass Opera Mini with Skyfire during busy afternoon/evening hours when most people would be stressing the network. Just be patient...

If you have suggestions on how to improve the product send e-mail to feedback@skyfire.com, trust me they listen and respond to constructive user feedback, that's partly how I became part of the alpha program.

Hey I love Skyfire and use it still as my default browser that said I use the old build. The new one isn't worth the update.......

I agree, this version is certainly not "the one we've been waiting for" as some posters seem to think.

When I installed it, I made the mistake of saying yes when it asked if I wanted it to be the default browser. That sure didn't last long, 1/2 hour later I switched it back to Opera.

It kinda scares me that all that has to happen are a few server glitches & skyfire is totally out of commision. I can see using it as an addition to Opera at times, but it would have to improve dramatically before ever becoming your "one & only" browser.

I am happy about one thing, skyfire works well enough for youtube playback etc. to allow me to finally delete the ridiculously invasive KinomaPlay from my system.

Kinoma still has a slight edge over skyfire in youtube playback quality, but skyfire is close enough without all the infuriating characteristics of Kinoma that they have stubbornly refused to correct (stealing every single file association in the system without even asking if it's OK, allowing a knowledgeable user to either turn off the scanning on every single startup or at the very least limit to folders of the users choice)

I guess that's why the call it "beta" and they continue to "test" it.

It's worked pretty well for me. The fact the it works in many ways exactly like the PC version is pretty awesome. The potential is there, just have to let it get through the beta cycles and testing.

Although, Microsoft's new Mobile browser will be out soon, that one might even give Opera a run for it's money.

It's a good time for mobile phone browsers. The mobile browser wars have begun!

Home screen integrationallows you to add a Skyfire search and URL bar to your Windows Mobile Today screen, so you can enter what you are looking for right away without first starting Skyfire.

late,
Coz

Its working for me, when i installed it asked would i like to add it, i clicked yes, and it was on the homescreen, and working... now if only i can figure out how to make it use YubNub, that would rule!

***EDIT***

This version is def way slower... I really wish they would add zooming like the newest opera... that is sweet!

I agree. I like the OLD beta better after using the new one for a day, but without beta testers, how are they supposed to know what to fix? For those of you who have complaints about .8: LEAVE FEEDBACK ON THE SKYFIRE FORUM, please. That's what it is there for. You can p*ss and moan all day about how much it sucks, or you can tell them what you like and don't like.

How come skyfire 0.8 supports less flash sites than the old skyfire 0.6? Sites such as live365.com music player. Anyone else having problems with some of the flash sites?

I have reinstalled back to the old version...luckily, I still have the old cab.

Are the bookmarks and/or history working for anyone?

Not for me.
