new Vcast site

verizon launched a new site... m.vcast.com

it looks like a browser ready site that lets you browse and play their vcast content, which you couldnt get to on non verizon software phone.

i was wondering if there is a way to play this content now that we can browse and see it all.

when i try to play it wmp give me an error, but im wondering if theres another player or some other way that would decode and stream it on Windows mobile.

thanks

The codecs didnt work for me to stop the wmp error. Sent email to support link on m.vcast site and its fixed and working.

I'm only getting sound - no video. I already had the codecs installed on my Samsung i760. Any ideas?

Re: new Vcast site

I've seen problems like this on Windows Mobile phones when the native media player tries to autodetect the available network bandwidth (and it doesn't work right giving a very low value) and/or the bandwidth setting in the media player is manually set too low. Then the player and server will negotiate to just audio.

My suggestion - from the media player (when playing something) go Menu -> Options ->Network.

Turn off "Detect Connection Speed"
Set the connection speed to something fast - 256Kbps or something, doesn't have to be true

Try to restart video

If that doesn't work, try turning off the UDP and going only with TCP

Hope this helps.

You have to have a Verizon phone and you need to sign up for free. They ask for your phone number when you sign up among other things. So...seeing that you are a sprint user, it probably won't work.
