Re: free voice gps
Anybody get it to work? I can't get it to recognize my phone's GPS. It only wants to search for external GPS sources.
|
Re: free voice gps
TMZ got it to work in post #3... I havent fired it up to play with it as of yet... maybe at lunch...
|
Re: free voice gps
Sounded to me like he got the cab to download, not the actual program to work.
|
Re: free voice gps
I got it working. I downloaded the cab for Tytn and went back and downloaded the cab for WM6 and it finds the internal GPS now.

Re: free voice gps
Working GREAT!
There's an option under devices for "Window Moble X.X" Select which version of Windows Mobile you have & download THAT cab. You must prime the GPS... by that, I mean get another program to find the Satellites, first. Any one of other little freebie GPS programs should work. I used Google Maps, myself. This is great... This may well replace Google Maps and/or Live. THANK YOU for posting! Oh... after goofing around with it for a few minutes, I discovered you can change the little arrows on the map. Copy the 3DArrow.png file from \programfiles\amAzeGPS\onmap to your desktop, alter it (I'm using a photo of my car,) but keep the same dimensions. Then, re-save it BACK to the \programfiles\amAzeGPS\onmap folder. When you start the program back up, the image you created will be there instead of the blue arrow. Too cool. |

Re: free voice gps
This program works fine on the Mogul... Was using the previous version, but like this one better... You'll get an occasional error after storing Favorites -- otherwise it works as advertised...
|
Re: free voice gps
i think i test it on my way home...
|
Re: free voice gps
just used it and it works great, was very accurate with voice promts for turns, I kept looking at tom tom and others but didnt want the bloat, this is perfect, no memory hogs either
thanks for find Don |
Re: free voice gps
guys how do you use this? I tried activating the maps but nothing pulls up. this program looks very cool please show how to use thanks
|
Re: free voice gps
i really like this app! now how come google and livesearch cant add voice prompts again?
this app only lacks the extra polish that the other 2 kings of the free gps hill have... but just becuase of the voice prompts i declare this the winner. there are a few things that need to be worked on like the main menu sizing, getting arial/hybrid maps to work better, and the fact that it needs to be primed. but overall i'm highly impressed by this app. |
Re: free voice gps
couldn't register... d/l program didn't allow me to log on even with code I was given...
love to know how you guys got this to work.. or does it not work on touch? |
Re: free voice gps
Just downloaded and tested on my mogul. Works pretty well. I fired it up after a softreset, and it got a lock very quickly, with no priming needed. Huh, ill definately mess around with this a little more today. Thanks for posting. dschoenike

I've been using it on every trip in the car since I DL'd it, and it's pretty accurate. Some issues... Unlike Live, I can't use it to find contacts. So, if you have a new customer, add them to your contacts, you're going to have to switch between contacts & amAze in order to enter the addy. It tried to send me the suicide way down a one way street, but quickly recovered when I refused. The satellite imagery & topo maps don't work... and I'm in a large suburb of Atlanta... a city of 5 million. My arrow is now an X-Wing fighter with my name under it. If Live ever comes out with voice prompts, this and Google Maps are toast, though. |
Re: free voice gps
great find! Cant get the the other maps to work except for the regular one. that one has a 3d option witch is nice. if anyone else gets the other maps to work please post here...thANKS

My 3d icon.
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...1221084043.jpg You can also replace the voice prompts with your own files... so, if you have a girl who will cooperate, you could record her voice & have HER telling you when to turn. |
Re: free voice gps
ok so out of 5 stars i give this program 4. pro's and con's. It talks! BEST THING EVER. cons.... the only map that works... sucks. depending what direction you going the street names might be upside down. i have to soft reset everytime to get it to read my gps.
Can some one cook something up that would integrate the voice on to live or google?? ALSO I HAVE A SPRINT 6800 BUT DOWNLOADED TITAN CRAZER SOFtWEAR..was this one the correct download???.what are the other mogul users useing the windows 5 or 6?? i didnt see any anything fot htc 6800... |

First, connect your phone & open Activesync. Hit Tools & "Explore Pocket PC." Open "My Windows Moble-Based Device" Open Program Files Open amAzeGPS Open sound_normal There, before you, are all the sound files. They're .AMR files, playable with Quicktime. If you don't have Quicktime, it's a free download. Just Google it & install it on your PC (NOT your phone, LOL.) The next thing you'll need is a program that can record your voice as a .wav file. I use Audacity. It's free, too. The last program you'll need is something to convert the .wav file to a .amr file. Here's a free one... http://www.download.com/3055-2194_4-...?tag=pdl-redir Pick out the file you want to replace. 001 is the lady's voice saying "Drive Carefully." So, copy it from the sound_normal folder to your desktop or another folder. You'll want to save this so that you can revert back to it if you ever want to. Now, open Audacity & record whatever sound you want... perhaps you saying, "Hurry the heck up, slowpoke!" Save the file as a .wav. Now, open the AMR converter, then open the .wav file you just created & convert it. Save the converted file to a different folder and name it "001.AMR." Now, copy this new file to the sound_normal folder you have open from Activesync. When you open amAze and begin navigating, the new sound should play. For some reason, mine required a soft reset. Just a note... you can have it play a snippet of a song. Metallica's Fuel is a good option! Hope this helps! |
Re: free voice gps
Oops... just realized the link to the .amr converter doesn't work.

Thanks for the quick tutorial! will make it easy for us to tweak this to our hearts content!

Re: free voice gps
In regards to my little tutorial on replacing the default voice prompts, this site allows you to type in text & have the computer speak the words.
Play around with the punctuation & spelling to get things to sound right... also, try the various voices from the drop down menu. http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php |
