There are plenty of free dvd ripping freeware out there..cant think of any off hand..

Once you rip the dvd..I would use Super to convert it to mp4... Ive used Super for a while and love it. Everytime I want to convert any audio\video file it does exactly what I need to do. Lots of options..and its free also.

Link for Super.

DVDFab will convert a DVD to a single media file.

How long does it take you to get this done using DVDFab?
It says it has 7 tasks and each one is like 2 hours.....

One of the few programs that I could use with my ppc when I came over from Palm was Pocket DVD Studio, it worked great. I forget how long it took to transport movies over, mainly because I was not paying attention. It does cost about $32, it may be cheaper somewhere else.

Found out why it was trying to do 7 tasks, it was going through and creating the movie file for ALL the formats available.

But it still took about 2 hours just to do the one.

It's a pretty fast PC. But DVDFAB was taking up all processe speed just about. I don't mind it taking that long, because it works and that's all that matters, is that I gots the movie on my phone now. :)

Videora iPod Converter is freeware, and converts to quite a few different formats. (Not just MP4) I haven't done any DvD's, but several music videos. Y'may have to convert ripped DVD files to a standard video format prior to conversion, but at 6.8M, it's worth a look.
