Hi all,
Just to let you know, a new release of GPSToday is out, we hope it will make into your must-have list:

1) Now choose between today-screen plugin version or a standalone full-screen app!
2) Now supports GeoTerrestrial GeoMail. Send your GPS position or points of interest to others via SMS or email!
3) Automatically see your friends' current location on the GPSToday map when they send you a GeoMail
4) GeoMail automatically pre-fills the street address so recipients need not fumble around with lat/long numbers
5) GeoMail also sends your speed and heading when you are moving
6) Weather updating mechanism is tightened up
7) Today screen flicker is removed
8 ) Now you can change the temperature display color on the today screen to suit your needs
9) And other minor fixes and enhancements to existing features including GeoWeather, GeoLogger, GeoTagger and others.

greetings. ive been using it from the first day it was released and absolutely love it. gpstoday uses very liitle memory, and is very stable. personally, its in my top 5 applications to have, and being free, the price is perfect.

I've been using GPS today since I first got GPS working on my touch. I first used it to prime but now keep it because it's a great today screen app.

another vote for gpstoday....great app, the developer is usually pretty good about responding to questions, and even adds feature requests.

add that to what other people have said about it sitting right on the today screen, using little memory. awesome free app

i love the contact integration into the map, makes it really convenient to call stores and stuff when near them.

geotagger works great,

today screen slide is great for keeping gps alive, and getting a nice speedometer on the today screen.

Can it do GPS data logging?
 

Does this App provides relible GPS data logging?
The family is departing for a longish road trips (curse the price of gas :angry2:) and wanted to geotag pictures taken with the regular camera (not internal one).
There are applications out there that will update JPG header data with location info by checking the GPS data log and matching the timestamp.
So, I am looking for an GPS data logger for Win Mobile 6.0, reliable freeware would be the best.

I have used it for a while now. And it's a pretty good program!

And for anyone that would like an OEM for GPSToday v0.9.8.1 w/Geotagger for geotagging pictures, follow my OEM Requests link in my sig! This is definately a must-have Today Plugin!!!

has any one had the problem about this program working only every so often? i can reboot and it finds where i am and if i run google maps then it sometimes works. is there one of the icons to press on to always update it. i ahve the gps checked

sweet little soft....works even here in korea....although I had to find maps, since google map for Korea is a giant white "spot", with a blue lines (rivers) running through. But I used it in EU and it worked really well, since google maps (regular...not satellite) are covering pretty much all of Europe .
And yes, it does not require much memory....I have been running it on daxian x999+ as well as HTC Touch Diamond.

I really like the app but does anyone know how to stop it from blinking/flashing when it is running on the today screen? I am using a touch. It is getting annoying

Mine doesn't blink on my touch.

I see an icon with binoculars in the website faq. Whats it do and how to activate? All I have is the clock for setting GPS intervals.

geotagging adds GEOgraphic coordinates of where the picture was taken into an internal TAG in the JPG file. When you upload such pictures to Flickr or Google (Some say Microsoft Live Albums too) the tag is recognized and picture is placed on the map.

I do not see a definite answere if this app would create a GPS log file for external picture tagging. Any suggestions?

GPSToday seems to bring my Touch's GPS to its knees. I installed it and left the default configuration, auto-updating its location. However, after the phone has been in standby for a while, the GPS stops working. The GPS appears to be enabled, with satellites, but it won't obtain update its location. Upon reset, GPS works fine again. Has anyone else experienced this?

BTW, I'm using the Almost OEM ROM which may have older drivers. I plan to the Official release for the Touch soon.

I think I may have the same problem.

After a soft reset I get GPS locks in just a few seconds. It seems though, that as soon as I lose a GPS signal (or maybe go into standby) it's gone until I soft reset again.

Not sure if it's a problem with the app, or maybe something with the new ROM. I'm going to play around with uninstalling etc. to see if this is the case.

It sounds like your using the new official ROM and having the same issues. Dang! I was hoping the new ROM would resolve this.

Greetings. I thought maybe this link would be helpful for everyone who has questions about gpstoday. It's a pretty long thread, but it covers alot of issues and details of the software. Interesting. In post #177 the developer says the problem of GPS locking up after repeated use is a known issue with the mogul.

Anyone care to comment, I seem to have it on my touch.

yeah, i remember reading that. i'm not sure why, but i've never had an issue on my mogul with gpstoday. its been running great for months now. not sure if it matters, but im still using the offical sprint 3.35 rom.

Anyone know how to actually get a map to show up? It says my address is 999 Street City, ST 12345.

When I go to check the map it just shows a blank white screen with the coordinates at the top and a dot in the center (i guess my current location).

EDIT: Just before anyone asks...yes my data connection is on/active and I do have a GPS fix.

Running on my titan now for atleast a week with no problems. DCDs 3.2.2 rom and 3.35 radio. quick locks even when i'm in my house!

Anyone tested and had any issues with the Touch?

Last time I installed, if I lost my GPS signal (e.g. went inside) then my GPS went down for good until a soft-reset. I'll test in a bit and update.

The last couple versions of this program and I have a love hate relationship with my me and my mogul (latest sprint rom). I love the quick lock-ons, the today plugin, the geotagging, the poi... But I hate how it always makes my device.exe and gps to crash. I guess I will give this one a try and see if by this time tomorrow if it is still on my device.

Edit: Had to get rid of it. With in the first 3 hours I had it crash. I had to let it go. Damn I wish I could get this figured out. What a powerful program!

well i unstalled it on my touch but really can get it to work i tap yhe quick fix an nothing happens any one have any suggestion would really love to have this .thanks in advance

It works well on the 800W and with the "weather/temperature" feature, it may reduce the use of another application?

I liked the features, but after the first fix, it would not fix a second time. I had it set to fix every hour but after the first fix nothing. It would not even let Garmin or livesearch find the GPS after it's first fix. I would have to soft reset to get it to work again. I uninstalled and the Garmin and livesearch work fine again.
