Re: Opera Mobile 9.5 offical beta (beta1)

The Limit Paragraph function is more like the earlier versions. When zoomed in it won't allow further zooming like 1126 did. On some pages like Wikipedia the lines are formatted to the zoomed width when zoomed out. On some NY Times stories linked from the front page the limit paragraph won't work at all and requires scrolling across the line to read it. Mobile view takes care of that but it means having to change back and forth in the setup menu. It would be much easier if mobile view was a shortcut. In contrast build 1126 would reformat the page when zoomed in. Hopefully later beta versions will return to this. It wan't perfect but its advantages far outweighed its flaws. I'll check again on Thursday but for now I think it's back to 1126 for this and the keyboard issue. I didn't notice the memory issue as much but I disable the plug-ins which seems to help alot.

Re: Opera Mobile 9.5 offical beta (beta1)

I start with 18MB free on my Titan and loading Amazon.com I get out of memory erros after about 60% page load while my memory sits at 6mb available. i did not have this on a 14xx build, but what is going to make me uninstall it is the same thing that made me uninstall the 14xx build. When Opera is installed the titan will only run one app at a time. So anytime you launch an app all other apps will close even if you are not using or launching Opera, so no swithcing betwwen open apps. If you are running beejive or something you want to stay open it is forced to close on any app launch. Might as well have an Iphone if i wanted to single task.....

Aha, THIS must be what's happening to me! Like he said, even when Opera itself is not running, I can only run one program at a time. There are a couple of exceptions where the "standard" programs will run at the same time-- like Calendar and Contacts. But if I try to run TCPMP and ActiveTrace so I can have music while I run, one will end up shutting itself off without any warning. Even if these are the only two programs running at all.

I do get the same memory messages, but I just click ok and continue working on it, it does browse faster than previous versions.

Does installing it still allow you to run multiple programs? I am surprised not to see more outcry on this. Maybe launching Opera kills all other processes, but to change the OS to become a single app running is unacceptable...

As you said, it appears to close all other programs, I just had coreplayer and live messanger and it killed both applications....it is unnaceptable.

Re: Opera Mobile 9.5 offical beta (beta1)

The main reason it works faster is because this version does not parse anything related to Javascript (AJAX, Flash, Java, ETC). Therefore there is less CPU overhead when going from page to page.

Uh, that's nonsense. It fully supports JavaScript (which includes Ajax). Flash and Java have got nothing to do with JavaScript.
