Opera Mobile news (yes, new information on upcoming beta)

The folks over @ Opera have updated their blog about the upcoming public beta of Opera 9.5 for Windows Mobile.

anyways, here's what they have to say:

We thank you for your patience and support as we make what we (and many others) believe is the best browser for mobile phones. A release testing phase is underway now and the target date for the first beta is July 15th. You will be able to download it from opera.com just like you would any other versions of Opera.

Opera Mobile 9.5 will be based on the same browser engine as Opera 9.5 for desktop, and this is the reason why it has taken some time to get it ready. A new version of the browser engine will ensure that you can surf the Web with a browser supporting the latest and greatest in Web standards.

Some versions of Opera Mobile 9.5 are already shipping on great phones like the HTC Touch Diamond, and some of you have asked why we wouldn't be able to release it publically yet. As you probably know, releasing a version that works on a large variety of phones is more complex than making it work on one specific phone. You should also expect a few differences between the versions that are pre-installed on phones and the public version of Opera Mobile 9.5.

We'll have more details about the product in the near future. Thanks again, and we hope you're ready for some beta testing with us.

Re: Opera Mobile news (yes, new information on upcoming beta)

Thanks for the scoop. I'd definitely like to try an "official" albeit beta version of opera mobile 9.5. Every single version thats been floating around the forums lately, doesn't seem to wanna play nice with my mogul. Probably like the article said, those releases were intended for other phones, and not meant to work with our low ram moguls'. I look forward to the beta, and thanks again for posting that article. dschoenike

i dont think youre going to find a more RAM friendly version. 8.65 wasnt very RAM friendly and this version is even more complex and graphic intensive. I don think any new version will solve the Mogul RAM issue when running it.

im not looking for it to solve the ram issue, im just hoping that it will run better than the leaked versions. Im not even sure the lack of ram was causing the issues i had with any of the 9.5 releases, because some people said it worked fine on their ppc-6800's. guess we'll find out next month.

Thaks. So will the version being released the 15th have the full flash capabilities? And I also agree about it not working wth my mogul. Only one version has done that for me, but I don't know which one. I sure hope that this will work with it!

I think that the beta would include flash capability, although I personally prefer the flash video bundle as it allows you to save videos from sites like youtube.
