Can't forget trusty dusty TCPMP. I had a good 2 gigs going with it at the peak time I was listening to music on my ppc and it works pretty well

If it matters, I ended up going with Pocket Player. It handles my library well, and is fairly easy to use.

Re: Best MP3 Player for Large Library?

I tried mort player last night and really like it... especially the minimizing feature which reduces the player to a minibar on the today screen. Since I use the player mostly for internet radio -- I have a Sony mp3 player for music and video -- it works for me. Before mort player, I was using GSPlayer which I like a lot, but it doesn't have the minibar feature.

I take it back... mortplayer was a pretty face but didn't play well with my .pls files for internet music, so it's back to GSplayer which may not have all the visual bells and whistles but handles media files VERY well.

I've got an 8GB card filled with music and have been using S2P. When I need to use a playlist I use HTC Audio Manager or WMP. I tried Pocket Music but it appears that doesnt display album art, which is something I've been looking for. If S2P had some of the sorting abilities of Pocket Player or HTC AudioManager it would be perfect.

I'm currently using mortplayer but it crashes more often than not. With all the props that pocket music is getting I'm going to give that a spin and see how it works.

As for why people dislike WMP so much - for myself I just don't like the fact that I can't play just a folder. I separate my music with folders on my sd card but with WMP I can't just play what's in the folder and nothing else. Sometimes folders have different type of artists / genres / etc...

ive tried htc audio manager - no playlists
pocketmusic - not impressed
wmp- wont read some mp3's or flac or ogg
s2p- no playlists
pocketplayer - playlists, downloads album covers, best features - been having issues with automatic library updates not being very good- used to work better - probably something is hosed
i have an 8gb sd card 6b of music on there and about 50k tracks on my computer
Ive been using media monkey but I'd like something better to sync with

Have been using Pocket Player for the last few months. I love it, but it takes 15 fricking seconds to start up! Okay, maybe 10, maybe I counted fast, but damn!

I will check out Pocket Music and Pocket Tunes as replacements, if they have touch scrolling, though, I will miss Pocket Player's visualisations....man, they are great! If you combine them with the WMP skin, it looks just like WMP 11 for the desktop, cool!

here's a free one to try -- POMOD -- says you can create playlists:
