Blackberry style backlight dimming for windows mobile??

Yo!

The blackberries have a feature that fades the backlight to "off". In windows mobile, when standby comes, the back light justs turns off.

Anyone know of a way to incorporate that "progressive" style dimming feature into windows mobile?

That would be real nice if we could get that, it looks so much better and has a big "cool" factor. Shooting into the dark here, but figured it was worth a try!

you know what? that's a good question, but since i used to own a blackberry myself, i think that's also a good idea for the backlit keyboard to fade from going bright after a certain period, but as an additional note, let's just kick in the blackberry style email too. cause the windows mobile email setups are slower than a dying snail in a salt pit.

i haven't taken apart a blackberry to do deep enough research just yet, but i should've thought twice before selling my 7100i.

I would rather have push exchange email, blackberry email is having tons of outages.

I want the ability for my device to turn off at preset times like the blackberries have. None for WinMo do as good of a job.

Re: Blackberry style backlight dimming for windows mobile??

I've seen something like this for Palm treos using the camera but I would imagine that would introduce more of a battery drain then we already have. Without a built in ambient light sensor the only mechanism to catch a change in light would be the camera.

But for simple dimming instead of entirely shutting off the backlight I would imagine an ambitions mortscripter could whip something up to dim the light 2 notches after a set amount of time.
