Opera Mini 4.1 Beta is out!

Offers faster and offline browsing, autocomplete for URLs, native uploads/downloads, and more...

It can be found here:

http://mini.opera.com/beta

I got the High Memory Muliple Certificate version...

Enjoy,

Re: Opera Mini 4.1 Beta is out!

i been playing around with it all day, it's def a little buggy, but there are some good things as well.. it does seem quicker an at least it won't ask you everytime if they can connect to the internet. i just notice that after a while of use it will start to bug up on you, such as not loading all the pictures on the page, as well as some freezing (rare)

Re: Opera Mini 4.1 Beta is out!

when trying to install in intent i get error: Unable to verify digital signature.
fail :(

edit: that was with multiple certificates. i just downloaded the no-signature one and it installed/ran fine.

Re: Opera Mini 4.1 Beta is out!

When I tried to install it I got a msg saying that the download failed and that the error was reported. Any idea how to fix this?

EDIT: Nvm, I got it to work, just had to close Java first I guess. Amazingly fast, now if only they'd make it so that you can watch youtube, myspace, veoh and google videos directly from the browser >.<.

the only thing i hate about these alternative browsers is that they dont have a feature to import your PIE favorites... that's the greatest pain in the neck for me when cosidering making the switch...

Re: Opera Mini 4.1 Beta is out!

I like the "Synchronize" Feature with opera mini 4. It saves your favorites for you.

So far, I'm really impressed... Truely makes it possible to use most "normal" websites...

How can you turn off the permission asking in non-signed version?

BlkCat 04-03-2008 10:28 PM

Re: Opera Mini 4.1 Beta is out!

I always get a midlet error or something everytime I use 4.0 or 4.1 opera mini. Then after a few minutes my phone freezes completely and I have to soft reset.

Yea, the default midlet manager doesn't work well with Opera Mini. There's a better one out but I can't find to link to it right now

it tends to freeze up after a few minutes of browsing, and it also tends to stop loading images fully after a while as well, it seems like, at first it runs great, but after like 5 min of browsing it starts to bug up pretty bad, i'm using the multiple certificate version by the way

also has anyone noticed that facebook has been freezing no matter what version of opera mini you use? it will freeze after going through a few pages

Re: Opera Mini 4.1 Beta is out!

This is a good guide about how to get Opera Mini working....all that's written in there pertains to the official Opera Mini 4 version. Not sure how much of that has changed in 4.1. I don't want to try 4.1 out yet because I rather wait for the official release since 4 is working fine for me now.

This link includes a link to the esmertec jbed with which Opera Mini 4 runs perfectly stable. The default java crashed quickly with my Touch.

Weird, I never noticed that about facebook. It always worked perfectly fine for me. Haven't tried it extensively with the new beta but it worked fine with version 4

Edit: Off topic but your plan is off the hook!

the facebook issue happens no matter what version of opera mini you run, including 4, i used to not have this problem a month ago, but people have been reporting that they too noticed a lot of freezing on that site, maybe sprint did something with the servers? idk, check it out an you will see what i'm talking about for sure

That is an OLD Jbed...

there is one that was ported from the Kaiser... its 2008/2/22 I believe... it works very well.

But yes, Opera Mini 4.1 DOES freeze up jbed on my Titan, both JRebeiro (which is also newer and better than Cloudyfa's) and the new one (which is available in the new Titan kitchen). Also, I can not get file downloads to work... it will browse the folders on the device but it says error fetching file every time.

I've been having the same problem getting the download to work. It's pretty annoying. If I figure anything out I'll post back.

Can any of you guys use opera to download stuff? Every time I try to download anything it says error and I have to use internet explorer and it takes forever to figure out how to copy the certain link I want or how I got to that website very frustrating.

opera mini 4.1 and ppcgeeks website login?

Having trouble logging in to ppcgeeks from opera mini 4.1 put in the user name and pass, it says logged in and redirecting, but it doesn't redirect, and when i click the link you're supposed to click when it doesn't do it automatically, i'm directed back to the login page... anyone else having this issue? wasn't a problem with mini 4.0.

Sorry, didn't realize it was an old version of Jbed... I use the jbed from the Apache WM61Kitchen with build ID 20070802.2.1... Do you have a link to the newer version?

I am having to click on the "OPEN" button to download, which it does through PIE too...

I'm not having this issue... Have used the signed mini 4.1 beta several times now to access PPCGeeks without issue (except for downloading)...

Re: Opera Mini 4.1 Beta is out!

You have to refresh the page after you log in sometimes, I've noticed.

As for the new Jbed, I don't know if anyone has a CAB for it yet. Its an OEM in the Titan kitchen.

You have to disable direct input in settings.
