Turn your PPC into an iPod
 

Back in the day a program called pPod was created. This program copied the look and feel of the iPod. Apple soon made them get rid of the program but of course it never actually disappeared. I have attached the application. Works pretty good and acts just like the 3rd Gen iPod.

Ok, I installed this program and everything went well. It finds the music folder in my minisd and loads up all the songs on the ppod screen but it wouldn't play any track. Anyone having this problem?

When i tried to install it through my PC. my ppc would not successfully install it. can anyone give me some help?

Here's what I did. Download and unzip the ppod.zip to pc. Sync ppc to pc and double click on ppod_v103.exe to start the install process and then it will tell you to finish the install process on your ppc. On ppc, the screen will ask you to either install on 'device or storage card'. If you see this screen, you're good to go.

Would a .zip file that unzips to a .cab file be also available on this site?

No, only the .zip file. you could download and unzip it in your ppc.

I think he was referring to a .cab the above contains a .exe that has to be excuted on the desktop. ;)

What File??? Do you mean the .exe because it is in the zip folder.

Just stumbled on this program, I ditch Resco Audio recorder for this simple, yet much better program to play mp3's.

this not for 240x240 screens?

Agreed...is there any way to tweak this to get it to work on square screens?

It's not in active development anymore (sued by Apple) so I doubt it unless some can find and edit the UI.

Once you unzip, all instructions are in folder. Very simple to follow.

I use NYDITOT to create a custom resolution profile which is a 240x320 resolution set to 'fit screen'. I then have Mortscript run a script that first changes the resolution to 240x320 and then opens pPod. It works like a charm but I'm having trouble figuring out how to edit the script to switch resolutions back after the program is exited. Does anyone know how to get Mortscript to execute a command once the target program is exited? Any Mortscript tutorials out there? I'd be happy to post my results.

Is it just me, or does the program not use the joystick thingie (or anyother hard keys for that matter) to any good use?

You can scroll up and down with the joystick, but pressing it does nothing. No keymapping anywhere.

Sigh. Almost a good player.

Does anyone know if you can get the ppod app for a treo 700wx?

Spiffy little mp3 player. Less footprint than wmp or others. Combine with btaudio.exe (for use when you have msvc 1.6) it works like a charm. Click your headset, say OPEN AUDIO GATEWAY and then launch PPOD and listen. Granted, I don't have a A2D2 headset, just a simple h500, but for killing time it works well.

I think I'm the only one that can't figure this out. There is no keygen anywhere in the folder. I'm lost...

In your Starbrite\ppod folder you will see a program called key4pbop

Click on that, it will bring up ppod... go to Register, put in any 5 digits and click ok... it will give you your keycode.

Now, close that, open up the regular ppod, go to register and type in that code. It will then be registered

thank you rlith, I was trying to click on the key4pod on my pc and it was telling me it was not a win32 application error. I got it working now, thanks again for you reply and help...Pretty cool program...

You are launching it from the desktop, RUN IT ON THE PPC!

I ran the program from the pocket pc, and when I copied the program into that folder and entered in a 5 digit password it said sorry registration failed. what should I do next?

USE FILE EXPLORER (sigh) run the keygen, enter in 5 random digits, it will spit back what your reg code is based on your owner info, close it (the reg key prog looks like the ppod program when running) close the key gen, open ppod then register with the code the keygen spit back at you. This is all clearly laid out in the read me file that came with the download..

i have always loved the app, only thing that sux is that it will not work with my napster music, only like ripped songs from cd's.
