Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

+1 Palringo. u guys are kinda cutting yourself short by using anything else.

those other programs are nice looking, but i'll take features, over beauty.

kinda like the iphone vs the tilt. one is the winner in the looks department, nice big screen full of colors, etc...but the other is absolutely dominating this battle as far as features.

EVERYBODY!! DL Palringo and join the ppcgeeks group!!

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

I'm using Palringo.... well it connected and it's showing all my contacts for MSN, Yahoo, and AIM, which is more than I can say for slick. I really did like Agile, but I cannot justify $40~ on an IM app, and my free trial expired. And its smart enough to know if you uninstall and reinstall it.

But what's with having to sign into Palringo first just to sign into the stuff you actually care about? That seem dumb/pointless to anyone? Anyway around it?

you have to sign into palringo first because they are trying to encourage people to use their services. so they make there's look like it's more important and the other services (aim, msn...etc) are just extras. i agree with you though. I'd much rather be able to sign into AIM (for example) and not have to sign into palringo, but I guess it doesn't really matter.... no complaints palringo rocks.

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

I would be interesting to see which app has the smallest memory footprint. I like Beejive a lot, but it is a HOG it takes 5-7MB of memory so it is not very good for the Mogul because all I have to do is launch another app like Opera mini and memory management will kill BJ. Whereas Palringo looks to take less than 1MB and stays running all the time, but i cant use palringo because it has a bug with Alltel based Mogul devices where it continues a reconnect loop until you cycle your phone radio off and on, which is too much of a hassle to monitor. I am going to try Slick right now, hopefully it is not a memory hog....

what features does it offer that the others don't? their website focusses on the voice feature which is of no importance to me.

I like that slick has small fonts so I can see more of my conversation on the screen, and I LOVE that slick uses the correct emoticons for each service, so I don't have to guess what somebody is trying to show me with their smilie.

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

Hi All,

Have a look at Yeigo (http://www.yeigo.com/)

What distinguishes this app is that it handles Skype chats as well as Facebook (yes, Facebook!)

Cheers

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

Slick is freaking awesome, but it's very hard on the battery.. Is one of these other apps really good on battery? would be nice if there was an app that did msn through text messages, does such a thing exist?
