Jive right takes the cake. Hopefully in the full version they will add smileys and file transfer ...oh yeah and hopefully you can turn off the sound when you receive im's

Mundu...and it's not even close.

It doesn't disconnect on and off like Palringo's AIM.
It doesn't freeze like IM+.
It displays full contacts...unlike Slick.
It doesn't have as many random problems and memory feasts like Jivetalk.

+1 for Mundu

I've been using Octro, supports a bunch of clients, simple interface and a Today screen plugin.

Been using Palringo for a month or so now and I love it. The fact that you can log on, exit the program and still stay signed in sells it. If your not actively using it, it's not using battery. No other IM program that I've found can say that.

Occasionally it has some log on/log off issues, and it doesn't support myspaceIM yet, but that hardly matters when I can drive down the road and use the VOICE IM feature to talk to my IM friends, instead of having to try to enter texts. Easy Peesey photo sending is just icing on the cake.

Palringo all the way.

Have you tried using it while roaming? It seems as it's a known issue with the HTC Mogul not being able to connect when roaming. Actually it doesn't seem to like 1x connections either. Seems to only work while on EVDO.

I love Slick. But its not really free when you consider the cost of buying an extended battery just to run it! I just purchased a 2800mah battery pretty much for Slick. My battery would last the day normally, but after using Slick I'm lucky if I get in 8 hours. What could make it use so much more power than other "connected" IM apps?

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

I have a full purchase of Agile Messenger for Windows Mobile (+ all future updates of 3.xx) and I still prefer Palringo because it keeps me logged in to their service while I'm on a phonecall and sends the messages down when I get off the phone and data resumes.

If Palringo had an easier way to select different active chats and the ability to browse for pictures I've already taken I might even consider paying for it.

Agile does not keep me logged on and it has an old interface (GUI more like WinCE than WM6) but it does tab the different active chats and I can rename any file extention to jpg and send it over their service : )
