i had 3.16 when i was tethering with my xp notebook b4 i sold it, and no problems, nonetheless, ill try that. Ive almost gave up on this. SHid, when it happens, ipconfig still shows the phones ip address while its connected. Geek squad couldnt even figure it out...(im convinced they arent true geeks anyways) but thanks ill try this in about an hour and report back

man i feel ur pain, i have a htc touch vouge and im running xp, im having the same exact problem, its like the connection stops randomly, usually what i do is press disconnect, close active sync on the phone and connect I.S again.. it works for a couple of minutes sometimes even a whole hour.....

dude this shid sucks- new shiny notebook and cant tether for shid. I still have wifi at home and my desktop at work, but my IT department has all the popular sites blocked, and i tether my notebook to get those sites and now i just sit here at work staring at my laptop that cant get the net while im at work.

for all those who are still following this, I think it was something wrong with the phone, for some reason it wouldnt play nice with my computer, but worked fine on others. I upgraded to No2chems rom, and all is well now. Thanks for all of the help though

EDIT: SPOKE TO DAMN SOON!!! same thing just happened. im thru with this

i had the same error. i contacted sprint. they told me i had to purchase the "internet sharing" which they said that its a seperate modem. and then he said for 39.99 a month you can get it up and running. and i said. for a 600 dollar phone. i cant get a god damn thing for free. and also complained about the mms. pic mail. so he gave me a 20% off discount on my phone bill. lol.

dude dont pay for shid if u have a data plan pick up a cop of wmwifirouter and just do it that way
