Re: New Iris Browser Get it here!!!

So at this point I think it is safe to say, any browser worth our time simply doesn't exist or is currently not available. And I miss my iPhone so :(

Just to update you guys on this. Torch has made some progress on this browser. They have 1.09 out now and there seems to be some improvement. They still have some work to do. Because although it's actually a functional browser it has some potential. I'm not going to used it over Opera Mobile or mini but it's worth keeping an eye on. The scrolling at this point is my major concern. Mostly everything else is decent.

This browser blows ... Simon Cowell would say it is tragically untalented. Here, I'd have to agree.

I'm a little gun shy to try this with all the it sucks posts. I might sit this one out, but heres is the cab for WM 5&6.

It does suck. I tried this a good while back. If you search on here for Iris Browser, you might find it. Sucked then, and from reading your posts, looks like it still sucks

Torch Mobile: Iris Browser| Webkit Based: read visit iphone websites...

You guys have got to try this:

http://www.torchmobile.com/download/

Its well worth looking at now as they've updated it a good bit since the last post in the old thread.

You can check out all the updates they've made here
http://www.torchmobile.com/blog/

and i believe the source is open as well they've got a git repository they talk about in their blog here http://code.staikos.net/

coolest part is the browser identifies itself as the iphone broswer so sites that are optimized for that come up like you are using an iphone!

and aside from being a bit slow (which may have been my connection / i'm hoping they will get worked on) the websites work exactly like on the iphone!

cute little effects, pans, and all!

not to mention it runs very quick, has cool tab changing animations... a heck of of alot

first site to check out with it?

iphone.facebook.com (works almost flawlessly just slow on pans)

not a facebook user?

google works too! (a bit glitchy though obiviously relies on some safari stuff thats not there)

i'll come back with some more sites to check out once I get to play with it a bit more

I saw an earlier thread about this but there were alot of sucks posts on the first page I thought would scare people away from giving this potentially awesome (awesome as in if they get it right... it could be better than opera 9.5 awesome...) upcoming app a run through so the guys can get some good feedback and keep making it even better. so thats why i made a new thread
