yea thats my concern, if who ever u wanna track doesnt have googlemaps or livesearch connected the program is no good...also if u have to be outside in order to get a GPS signal its no good...so if the person is inside somewhere it wont find them? so yea we need a GPS always on program to make this program actually usefull...u could use this to find ur lost phone to is whats neat...hmmmm technology...i love it

Ok so this is it. This is the Post that makes this program rock. The always on GPS/a-GPS? It works.
So I was walking around the Geeks and I found this thread Quote:
And I was wondering since a-GPS searches off of a cell tower and GPS sats would this be a always on connection we need? Well it is..... I did the hack waited 2 minuets and soft rest the phone. When it booted back up I sent myself the Code word and no joke the plugin started to do its thing, It turned orange then green. No data connection,no Google maps, no live search, just straight PPC all by its lonesome. and a few seconds later i Got my Text... So all you need to do now is Dl the App from http://vitotechnology.com/en/products/findme.html and then do the reg edit. HKLM/Software/HTC/SUPLAGPS/ GPSMode --> Change to 4 (orginal value 2)..... Tested a few times. Can I get a validation on this from another user? Remember Code word is case sensitive..... Thanks verkion good lookin out. A-GPS definition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS |
I just did the hack, next i'll reset and see what's what. i love this phone and i equally love this site!

Re: VITO FindMe Gps....
So is it possible for this program to locate someone who you are talking with?
example: someone calls you and you want to know where they are....this program will give you the location? |
Re: VITO FindMe Gps....
someone at xda-developers tested power consumption with GPS on and concluded that it uses TWICE as much power with the GPS chipset enabled.. I don't think having a GPS always on a good solution.
