Not sure on the price. Im thinking its a beta and will be free for the time being.

pdx77 02-05-2008 10:33 AM

Interesting they are skipping on version 9 and jumping right to 9.5. However the desktop version is coming out with version 9.5 soon so they might be keeping the version #'s in line with each other.

Between this and skyfire coming out, (and Firefox mobile) lots of good browsers (finally) coming out for Windows Mobile soon!

thekidd1584 02-05-2008 10:44 AM

can somebody give me the website for the free opera where i can download straight to my phone please thanks.

http://www.operamini.com/

u may need esmertec jbed to run opera mini.

prezidentialkid 02-05-2008 10:54 AM

Now that Skyfire is coming, that prob put a lil pressure on opera to go ahead and release. I must say Opera has alot of good features on paper, but will it live up to the expectations?

keri2000 02-05-2008 12:03 PM

That video is really cool! http://www.opera.com/b2b/solutions/mobile/video/

I will purchase this as soon as it is ready. It looks great. Wow, finally a good browser for WM!

blue4shizzle 02-05-2008 12:26 PM

looks like it may be a great app, but how much would this be?

wldthng842 02-05-2008 12:28 PM

They usually have a Beta for 30 days free. After that probably $15 to $30. Depends on the pricing of Skyfire and Firefox mobile most likely.

I don't know which one I want, but I need something. PIE sucks

ycats 02-05-2008 12:33 PM

use your PIE and go to http://www.operamini.com and install Opera Mini 4, best browser until Skyfire is released, supposedly today

jguttz 02-06-2008 12:48 AM

Open your Java application from programs. Then look in the apps section

Hi everyone! I just got off the phone with nice gentleman named Tom Ford from Opera. He is closely involved in the 9.5 project. He want us to know that a numbers of issues such as pricing and upgrading from the current version have yet to be decided. I expressed our excitement over the opportunity to be involved in the beta testing which he seemed to find really encouraging. He's going to keep us closely informed in the process leadinq up to the beta release. I gave him my email address and I'll share with everyone any information he sends me. This is all I have right now. He may decide to post the info himself but if not, when he emails me I would gladly pass on any questions you might have -David

pacmantom 02-08-2008 07:50 PM

I can't wait to get rid of pie.

xero 02-08-2008 11:46 PM

I hope that upgrades are free, I just broke down and paid for it...again.

spanglmd 02-11-2008 11:40 AM

Feb 11th and no sign of it being posted at opera.com

Anyone have any info?

NxtGenCowboy 02-11-2008 11:50 AM

How reliable is the information that it will be out today?

Tenny 02-11-2008 11:52 AM

Heh, I just got all excited seeing 8.65 (and figured since they announced it, it's gone through .15 changes) and was downloading, then I realized we were waiting for 9.5, not 8.5 :(

wjrandon 02-11-2008 11:54 AM

Opera Mobile 9.5 isn't going to be released today. I believe it's only being demoed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain today. Someone confused the demonstration date with the announcement that a beta will "soon" be announced, and we all know Opera's definition of the word "soon".

krohnjw 02-11-2008 12:04 PM

The commercial release is slated for the Spring of 08 - today is just the first day it will be live demo'd. I would expect a beta will be released, but I would guess that's a few weeks off still.

riironman 02-11-2008 12:44 PM

damn...i been waiting too.

InvincibleLiving 02-11-2008 01:39 PM

the title of this thread is what causes the confusion on this, but to be fair Opera wasnt too clear in conveying that it will only be demo'd today not publicly released...

wjrandon 02-11-2008 01:47 PM

I think Opera is scared of what Skyfire will do to their market share and rushed out their press statement and demo video on Opera Mobile 9.5

InvincibleLiving 02-11-2008 01:55 PM

you might be right wj, it really is odd that the browser market has been stagnant so long and now all these options are dropping at virtually the same time...

Genjinaro 02-11-2008 02:20 PM

I like the speed of Netfront's releases versus others.

Their press release cleary stated that a public beta would be released at a later time.

jbbosu 02-12-2008 06:49 PM

Im longing for this release! Hurry up Opera!

Re: **Opera Mobile 9.5 to be released Feb. 11th

For those of you with Opera Mobile on your PPC:

Is anyone else having a problem where it automatically goes to landscape mode every tie you open the browser? It will load normal for me but as soon as it's fully loaded, it will switch itself to landscape mode. As a result, I have to slide my mogul down and then up again to fix it. It's just kind of obnoxious.

edit: nevermind. The problems I am having are mentioned on Opera's site and it's because I am using the beta. *slaps self*

Uh seriously...with everybody and their mother now having skyfire because of all the Beta Codes floating around..Now might be a good time to dump Opera Mini...too buggy and too much trouble..besides once this app is released there will be no need for any other browser.

This is Opera Mobile, not Opera Mini.

And having both been in the beta for Skyfire, using the beta 1 of Opera 9.5, and having Opera Mini for all the time. I would say Opera 9.5 Beta 1 is my preferred browser by far. Skyfire does a lot, but I have lots of problems with certain pages not loading right, or when you "move" the screen, it doesn't update all the way. Opera Mobile 9.5 does have it's problems, but overall I think it is a better choice, despite it not being able to play videos... but I never cared for that feature anways, although it's always nice having Skyfire as a backup incase the need does arise.

i'll have to agree, skyfire takes an extra second to focus when panning. plus the panning in opera is ELITE compared to skyfire... if only we could throw em together, we would have the ULTIMATE browser lol.

When opera 9.5 is officially out of beta, it will have the full java support for video viewing.

I just hope they get Pandora.com working with opera, cuz it won't work on on skyfire due to the inability to save java to storage, and thats what pandora does inorder to get you the next song so quickly. Pandora is MUCH more useful to me than viewing youtube as a whole. I use it at home ALL the time, i just wish i could use it in my car with my bluetooth fm transmitter.

Re: **Opera Mobile 9.5 to be released Feb. 11th

its odd, the leaked diamond versions are SO much better than the beta somehow. theres a ton of bugs in the beta but the leaked version seem to just work properly. i wasnt impressed by the beta, but the leaked versions run great which seems backwards on an earlier build

i think the main problem comes from trying to support a wide variety of devices vs one device it was honed to. If you have a touch or a pure touchscreen device the leaked versions work better than the beta right now

Re: **Opera Mobile 9.5 to be released Feb. 11th

does flash ready mean that it will behave just like skyfire does with video websites??? sweet! also does this mean that the raphael's opera will have flash?
