An app that allows you to change your operator (carriers) name. stays after a softreset. works on most htc devices, treos, and q's.

new version 3.1 EVERYONE that installed and earlier version should install this version over the other. much faster and stronger.

works nicely - I'm using it right now. Thanks. One question though - mine still shows the two icons for bluetooth and location privacy and I see yours shows the date - I'd like mine to display the date as well. Can you shed some light on that? Thanks again.

Unfortunatly it does work on my apache running a rom cooked from helmi's wm6 kitchen.


Any help. It installs just fine asks me for something to change it to but it never changes. I tried soft reset but nothing.

can this app change the wording on the task bars? for instance, can it change the word 'start' at the top to say...my name?

these icons on the treo that you see can't be removed. the picture i showed was from the htc touch.

first, do me a favor... post a screen shot. then if you want it fixed i need a copy of your registry. send it to codyppc at gmail dot com. i can fix this for you 6700 cooked rom guys, but i dont have the device. the weird thing is i dont know what makes this cooked rom so much different. it should be reading the operator info from the same place. does it show the operator info?

no offence, but i just wanted to make sure you freaking even had a carrier spot showing. lol. go to your dial pad. amek a call. do you see anything there?

i will be looking into this today after lunch. shouldn't be a problem getting you apache wm6 guys going though.

what the.......maybe thats it....I made a phone call....nothing showed but thats normal with my dial skin....Then when I went back to the today screen it showed....Ill take it.

Yup tried it a few other times and perfect just have to make a call for changes to take effect.

i was going to say that it looks as if it should have work fine. i think the problem may have been with the today screen refresh on you hacked version of wm6. i know my wm6 version works fine, but did work different than it did on the wm 5 devices. next time you have problems with it not showing up go to your settings/today screen/items and then exit. this will refresh the screen.

codyppc - I have noticed that my Treo 700wx has twice now stopped showing my personalized text and started displaying the "Verizon Wireless" again at the top of my today screen. Is this happening to anyone else? At first I thought I must have turned it off, but when it happened the second time, I know that's not it. I'm running the _1.22 rom and have Spb Pocket Plus 4 as my main program. Any ideas? Thanks.

whats the difference between this and OPMON??

I did a quick search on OPMON and they sound the same. From what I saw, it too had the problem I'm experiencing - where after some time the personalized text goes away and is replaced with the carrier name again.

Yup, I get that problem as well...not a biggie for me tho, minor inconvenience

Opmon lets you set the time before it checks for changes. The problem is that the cell tower goes and updates your carrier line back to what your carrier wants, thus if you change the line, Sprint (or whoever your carrier is) changes it back. Opmon lets you specify how often to check for that change and if it detects a difference when it checks, then it changes back to what you want.

I am running Opmon, and so have not tried Cody's app, so I don't know how or whether his accounts for tower updates. If it doesn't already, then I'm sure he'll fix it. He's very good about getting his stuff working and tweaked quickly.

i am not trying to compete with anyone nor copy. i just wanted to share. the other day i wrote a little something to test a program tha ti am trying to update. see here... (post 70) ... http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...=150417&page=4

from the sounds of the other program i think my version may work better. what mine does is asks for the info you want to display. it then writes that to a spot in the registry that i created just for a storage spot. then every time you turn on your phone (wake from sleep) the program read the spot that i used for storage and quickly writes it to the carrier (operator) spot. yes the carrier is always changing everytime you go in or out of service, on off phone, ect. my idea should work pretty well and use no extra battery juice. really small and basic little app.

i dont even use it really. i just know there are so many people customizine there devices that i thought it would be cool to write. there was a guy asking to change the top bar where it said "start". this request made me post my little idea.

I have a Tmobile wing and I am also having the same issues as the others, the carrier name changes but then automatically resets it self and in order for me to get it back i have to place a call each time

hmmm, sounds like it is acting weird on the wing.

PEOPLE TRY THIS

instead of going in to the program or placing a call to get it to write agian. just push the power button once to put the device asleep and then 2 seconds later push the power button agian a wake the device.

this app is set to run everytime the device is woke up. this should work. i ran this app for 48 hours on my sprint touch and NEVER had a problem. hmmm.

Don't get me wrong. I've always admired what you do. You actually got me into doing some MortScript programs (see my sigline) I've watched your other threads, and I know that you make frequent updates and incorporate lots of feature requests. I just wanted to re-assure people that if something wasn't working right, you'd fix it. :)

no offence taking. i was just quoting you because you meationed the other program and how it worked. i didn't know about the other program or i wouldn't have wasted my time doing what has allready been done. i did this just cause i know many people would like to "personalize" there devices.

i quoted you because you decribed things that are issues with app app like this. your quote was also nice to use when decribing what and how mine worked. i hope mine will work good for others as well. hopefully better.

to be all honest with everyone.... it has been a while since i, or most mort people, have wrtoe anything. i miss it and was wanting something to do. i remember when you (perasite) first came to the treocentral mort forum. we were just ending an almost year long mort writing frenzy. man that was fun. hopefully with the release of the 800w (treo) the gang will come back. most of the guys said they just got board. they need a new device to spice it up agian.

your good with me parasite. i just hope people dont think i was tring to copy the other guys app when writing this. i was going to remove it, but thought... some may not have known about the other guys app, like myself. and, maybe this version will work better for those who had problems with the other one.
