P2P mobile
Has anybody ran across any of these? I have been searchin for a few minutes and havent found anything that would work with windows mobile yet. I did find a mobile version of bittorrent, but its not free.
Maybe some of you already use one, so I thought I'd ask :) |
Updated with working link on freeware site 8/23/06
Pocket G2 Pro is a great p2p software that is free, if you would like to try it you can download the alpha version .cab HERE. Or check the developers site for newest version, once they get it back up and running. Note: its a 3.29MB .cab file. But it wont handle .torrents, I have a solution for that though another little program cant remember name, but pm me if u would like it. ~mike |
dude, you are rich on ppc cash!! :D
|
hehe gave myself and everyone like $2 per post and a few extra to donate. hehe 8)

|
What does Pocket G2 Pro do and why would I want it on my 6700? I need to find more cool, but useful stuff to do with my phone. :D
|
simple u use bearshare or limewire on ur desktop to download stuff? imagine it on ur ppc!
~mike |
Anyone have this cab on hand? The site is down :-(
|
sorry that's one, I don't have. they are upgrading/swapping servers, it should be back up shortly. sorry. ;)
~mike |
wow just when i am ready to download this, its gone...sheeeesh
|
i really wanted to try this little program... :(
|
I guess they brought in some industrial sized servers to build a tree of servers because a week later the site is still down.
|
haha, yeah. try to find a mirror.
|
I have two verisons:
2.4 (latest) 2.221 but I got this message: The Attachment is too big. Max Size: 1 MB Sorry, you have reached your maximum Upload Quota Limit of 7 MB  I can try again later tonight and put them on rapidshare...gotta go to work. |
i wonder if 2.4 is the beta version? From what I've been reading, the alpha release was useless as any file you go to download would crash the program and it would have to close.
It would be interesting to see how many files this application can find since there aint a whole lot of 24/7 internet enabled pda users out there (relatively speaking of course). |
I have actually heard some great reviews of this software from some of its users. however, they are saying that it hasn't worked since the website has gone down. so I guess we might as well wait to dl it from the website anyhow.

yea I think they may be having problems with something on the install of the new servers. its been awhile, and the other day I was getting the apache page from a fresh install....but now its blank.
malatesta, I set limits on upload to save space, and so ppl don't go crazy uploadin. ;) give me a bit and I will raise ur limit. ~mike |

who knows |
So I got my hands on the alpha version, and, it sucks. Its very unstable, so you gotta restart the application a few times. I havent been able to even find 1 file in my searches. I hope the beta version works better than this. We'll see. I'm still searching for it.
|
please update if oyu find something before all of us kind sir:)
|
Upon furthor review, I uninstalled, then reinstalled. The program now works. I've downloaded 2 files successfully although both files couldnt play. The first file required a license and the other was a .mov file. I still want the beta which is what Malatesta has. I'm trying to learn how to host a file with Streamload right now.
|
try uploading to 4shared or rapidshare, these are great file hosting services.
~mike |
is that the beta?
|
its not the beta release. its version 1.0 Pro (Build 2287 Alpha)
|
ok I don't know if anyone else is having problems with this program but I am ... I have tried like 3 times now and used different versions, as well as storing on the storage card or the internal memory, still the same scenario ... it will start up, connect, and search ... when I choose to download something, it crashes ... gives me an error saying that pocketg2pro had an internal error, then it closes out ... after trying to go back in I just get the same error without even connecting etc ... any ideas?
|
that was the same problem i was having so i uninstalled then reinstalled to the same storage card area.
so i was wondering how many versions you have? |
ok so im not alone, yah I have tried the one from the website, the one from the link, and the other one from a link in here posted as version 1.0 as opposed to i think like 2.4 and 2.6? either way it just doesn't wanna work and it's pissing me off, mainly cuz i can sit at work on my wifi hooked up to a pc for power, but it just isn't working, WTF!!!
|
uninstall pocket pro and start from scratch. If you have something like mem-maid, run it just in case there are left over registry files or things of that nature. Reinstall thru activesync and tap the cab file, it should ask you where you want to install, I would install on my storage card (just because its where I put everything). remove your ppc from the docking base and go to programs and your icon will be there.
Let me clarify, I had the problem you are having when i first installed. Since then i uninstalled and reinstalled and its been working great ever since. |
updated the link in the second post to point at the freeware site so we have no more dead links.
~mike |

fine, here it goes as said by the wikies :D :
"Bittorrent is the name of a peer-to-peer (P2P) file distribution client application, its related file sharing protocol, and a company that maintains these, BitTorrent Inc., all of which were created by programmer Bram Cohen. BitTorrent is designed to distribute large amounts of data widely without incurring the corresponding consumption in costly server and bandwidth resources. CacheLogic suggests that BitTorrent traffic accounts for ~35% of all traffic on the Internet,[1] while other sources are skeptical.[2] The original BitTorrent application was written in Python. Its source code, as of version 4.0, has been released under the BitTorrent Open Source License, which is a modified version of the Jabber Open Source License. There are numerous compatible clients, written in a variety of programming languages, and running on a variety of computing platforms. BitTorrent clients are programs which implement the BitTorrent protocol. Each BitTorrent client is capable of preparing, requesting, and transmitting any type of computer file over a network using the BitTorrent protocol. This includes text, audio, video, encrypted content, and other types of digital information." |
I just checked out pocketg2.com and they are finished with the beta testing. PocketG2 version 1 is out now, but its not letting me download the cab file.
|
haha had issues with their site for the longest....I'm still runnin the alpha version with not to many issues. it available at ppcfreewarez. ;)
|
Sweet! One more app to pay with. WinMobile Torrent is a little too pricey for my P2P taste. When will these developers learn that they would make a lot more money by selling in volume for less.
