Thanks for the heads up. Worked like a charm and didn't need any credit card info. Email address does not need to be valid as it gives you the activation code online when you submit it.

How do you get this app to show you the appointments on the today screen, that are two to three weeks in advance, like a monthly display of appointments and tasks on the today screen kinda like Today Agenda does.

tharris297 01-04-2008 09:32 AM

very nice ... thanks a lot!

You can't. PI's Today screen plug-in follows a minimalist approach, limiting everything to today and tomorrow and allowing only a little customization within those. Of course you can get almost endless customization of the view once you open the PI app itself.

Pibe38 01-04-2008 03:21 PM

Awesome, thanks for the heads up! Got it without an issue.

Alpine- 01-04-2008 04:04 PM

I tried to see what it looked like on the Today Screen but the website didnt show any. They have tons of pics but none of what it looks like in the today screen. Im sure its a lot like default WM6. Anyone care to post a pic?

If they don't add an appointment preview below the calendar view (there is an empty space begging for it) in SPB Diary soon I might try out Pocket Informant. It has been a top request for SPB Diary for like a year.

Here ya go Alpine. The Today plug-in is PI, scrolling over to a second page. The PI view shows the appointment preview you were talking about.
(BTW, I captured these on my desktop using the MyMobiler app during a rare USB sync session. That's why the blue bar is on top.)

how do i get the bottom bar to go bye bye(the black line, and the pocket informant icon)? i know if you exit out of the program it will go away, but i do not want it to show up at all, in or out of the program.

nevermind i figiured it out. i just had to go into the advanced options and turn it off. haha

kpazzo6 01-05-2008 02:25 AM

Just a quick followup. On your screen shots, it looks like you have appointments listed on your home screen which are relatively far in advance. How did you get those to appear?

Are they scheduled as tasks or appointments or....?

schettj 01-05-2008 01:16 PM

Pocket Informant's not half bad, for free - thanks for the heads up!

Calendar+ (freeware today plugin) can show calendar events far into the future - just set it to show the next X (x is 1-4 I think) appointments, and it will show them. I just have mine set to show the next 1, regardless of date.

badchad 01-05-2008 03:40 PM

Would I be able to use Calendar+ on top of PI?

What I would really like is the option to select specific events to be displayed on my home screen at a specific time. From the looks of it though, I may just have to get in the habit of checking the PI month view.

Those things with the white boxes are active tasks. The available task display selections are limited to:
- Don't Show
- Starting/Due Today/Tomorrow (selected in my screen shots)
- In progress
The dates shown are due dates, but the one with the due date of 1/9/08 also had a start date of 1/5/08 (tomorrow).

InsertUserAlias 01-05-2008 04:21 PM

Sweet. Works great. Thanks for the heads up.

vetteman82 01-05-2008 05:42 PM

wow....thank you very much!!

This offer has ended, thread will be unstuck.

Brock1909 01-06-2008 07:58 PM

cant figure out how to not have my calander show on the home screen the calender entries for the next day. so today it shows tomorrows stuff.
i would like it to show the stuff for that day at midnight. not the whole day previous to the entry.

Unlike the rest of the app, PI's Today plugin is very, very simple. For appointments, you have "Today's only" and "Today & tomorrow's".
You could probably customize TodayAgenda to give you exactly what you'd like.

i have looked trough all the settings and i cant find that. where is it exactly?

Mach30SiR 01-06-2008 10:22 PM

noob alert: when i install it it says its not a valid app....whats the fix

InsertUserAlias 01-06-2008 10:38 PM

I dunno if anyone will be able to help me with this or not, but I was wondering if there was a way to have PI be my default calander but NOT over ride my default contacts list/viewer. If not, is there a way that you can make the contact entries in PI be about the same size as the ones in the default contact viewer. The entries in PI are far too small for me since I don't really use my stylus. Otherwise I love this program.

I think your best bet is NOT to make PI your default program, and then access it through the normal program menu.

For me, I access PI through my home screen so there is little reason to make it my default program for anything.

Now that I have the hang of scheduling tasks, this program is the best thing I've installed on my PPC.

True. That is how I originally set up. I just tend to hit the damn calander button at the bottom instead of going into the apps tab on my today screen. I dunno why, I just forget the shortcut is there sometimes lol.

You've hit on the only real "weakness" of PI for our devices - it's a very dense display and is designed for stylus users (on traditional 3.5" PPC screens) rather than thumb-tappers on our little 2.8" phone screens. Compared to older versions, there have been some improvements for one-handed use using the soft keys, and I like these. I'm pretty sure future versions will be more touch-friendly.
From what I can tell, PI is an integrated PIM; there's no way to make it default for calendar but not for contacts.
You can make the contacts list a little more thumb-friendly by choosing Picture List in the View Options in contacts. (Doesn't help much for me because scrolling using the joystick is screwed up - so many settings to explore and fix.....)

More details perhaps? Is you are trying to install the EXE file on the device you'll need to run it from the PC through ActiveSync.

If you want to install directly on the device, you'll need the CAB.

Hahah. Alright, thanks for the info. I will try the picture list and see how that goes.

That was the fix, thanks!

For future reference, how could i have extracted just the cab to install on the phone? I noticed it installed a small amout of files in my c:\programfiles folder

I used the option to have a text message sent to me with a direct link to the CAB, however, you can always run the EXE on your PC and usually find the CAB in C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\APP NAME HERE - but some other apps could use different directories.

Shoot, I missed this opportunity. I do not want to break any rules here and I do not think I am since they were giving this away free so would someone perhaps post it up to the ftp here or email me a copy?

If this is out of line let me know and I will remove the request.

Thanks

The offer has ended and each person that got this received an individual registration code. They also asked for the device's Owner Name, so chances are the registration code is linked to the Owner Name.

ksquake 01-07-2008 12:08 PM

Oh well, thats what I get for not paying close enough attention. Next time I guess.

Thanks

Yeah, I didn't get any option to change the number of days displayed on my homescreen either. Now that it's slowly filling up, this might be a nice option.
