Does Anyone Know any bible app
Where can i get a bible app to put into the 6800. Thank you
|

By far the best and most comprehensive bible program is pocket e-sword.
http://www.e-sword.net/pocketpc/index.html You can download bible versions, commentaries, dictionaries, etc. some of which are free, some you'll need to pay for. |

E-sword is the best! been using it for a year now and never had a problem.

[quote=jened;147415]i too use this and on my 6800. works well. free plus lots of free versions and free strongs even. lately i've been using the automatic bible reading where it'll ask you to select what you want to read (certain books or the whole bible, etc) and how long you want to take and creates and tracks it for you as you read each day.[

Does anyone know how to convert a Bible from PC format to PPC E-sword format? I use a Bible on my PC which is not available for the PPC.

I use olivetree the most. for some odd reason I've never been able to get pocket e-sword to work on a ppc since my g1000. Not sure why. I'd love to have access to Strongs again in a ppc format.

I have used eSword on my sd card for years with all my PPC. Just download the wm version from the website and install both applications to your SD card. Afer installation Make a new folder, I call it "Bibles" and put all your bibles, dictionaries, maps, etc in it. Don't use the directory that was created by the program. When you first run the program it is going to say that it cant find the bibles and ask you to locate them. When you point it to your "Bible" directory it will open and work perfectly. I currently use this on my Sprint Mogul 6800 without a hitch.

I have used olivetree and pocket eSword for years now. I like pocket e-Sword the best. I also use it from my storage card on my 6700 with no problems. They have many bibles versions available for download. Some are free and some are not. Be sure you install the bible reader first before installing any bibles.

mbible.com is useful

You Need Sql Ce 2.0
Quote:
Install Pocket e-sword, install at least one bible, then install SQLCE 2.0. Then run Pocket e-sword, and you are good to go. (NOTE: IF YOU INSTALL POCKET E-SWORD ON THE STORAGE CARD, THEN INSTALL SQL ON THE STORAGE CARD, OR if you install pocket e-sword to the flash memory, do the same for sql ce 2.0 (it has to be sqlce 2.0). It should work flawlessly. go here http://rapidshare.de/files/38372728/...d_ALL.zip.html to download the zip file that contatains: Pocket e-sword cab, sqlce 2.0 cab & KJV bible file (put this in the bibles folder after you install pocket e-sword). Hope that helps. |
I have only had luck with installing sqlce 2.0 in main memory. However I have Pocket eSword and all bibles installed on the memory card. Installing sqlce 2.0 to the memory card resulted on Pocket eSword not functionally correctly.

It's off-topic i know, but i'm really encouraged to see how active this thread is! That's all...

Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
For serious study, OliveTree offers some pretty good Bible Study tools. I've been used it for years. If you are into Greek, Grammcord is a must.
They also have a very good list of FREE bibles and books too. (multiple languages too) I just wish they had a desktop application that you could read their bible modules. |
Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
I really like e-sword for the pocket pc..and for the pc check out http://www.scripture4all.org/ for Greek and Hebrew interlinear with concordance..

Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
thanks so much for the cab.. I dislike installing the exe on my machine and I have been looking for a cab to install for years. Maybe someone can put that cab in the apps section on the ftp server.

Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
I have the KJV of the "OT" in PDF format. Works fine on my 6800. I use it because of the english. Otherwise I have the Chumash w/Rashi, and Tanakh w/Rashi... they also work great (for my Jewish friends).
If you want the PDF, just PM me, I'll email it to you. |
Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
i use the free version of Laridian PocketBible. Would love a free app with both a spanish and english bible.
|
Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
I use pocketbible from Laridian as well. E-sword is nice for free, but is a memory hog.
|
Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
I just picked up the e-sword yesterday. I been using a free java one for awhile but e-sword is definitely the best that I have used thus far.

They have a ton of FREE English and non-english bibles. |
Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
I have been using the Pocket Bible from Laridian for 5-6 years now. They have quite a few reference guides now include full commentary sets, maps, etc. Additionally, they released a desktop version recently, which allows you to access all the content (Bibles, dictionaries, commentaries, etc.) on both pc & pda. While the desktop is not necessarily best of bread, it is nice having access to the materials and notes in both environments.

I wrote up a review of the various PDA softwares I have used on my blog at:

Pocket e-sword just put out v3 today...
Pocket e-Sword v3.0.1 (4.22 MB) Pocket e-Sword is a Christian Bible reader. The program lacks nothing from the best e-book readers: it is possible to consult a dictionary, search, compare, add bookmarks, etc. get it here or attached below: http://www.e-sword.net/pocketpc/downloads.html *note this must be installed from pc to device, no cab file is provided. |
Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
Laridian is looking for Beta testers for PocketBible 4 for non-touchscreen smartphones... (They have filled their quota for touchscreen users for now :( )
More info at: http://blog.laridian.com/?p=102 |
Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
I like Biblelink 3.0 found at www.biblelink.us
Doesn't appear to be any support for this program, but I like the interface. You can also get the entire Bible in audio with this software. They offer several packages and some are free. You can also do a 30 day trial on the software. I also have olivetree and EBible Deluxe, but Biblelink is my favorite. |
Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
I have tried using OliveTree and have tried downloading different versions of the files to my HTC Mogul from Sprint (just bought it today) and it keeps saying they are not valid Pocket PC files. I used ActiveSync to transfer them over but cannot seem to get it to work. Any ideas? (I'm a total noob at this)

Re: Does Anyone Know any bible app
It seems that E-sword's download site is down---anybody have any mirrors for the Bibles and resources themselves?
*edit: I found a website with some old mirrors but even though I have downloaded and used ActiveSync to put them on my PDA in the proper folder, e-sword is still saying that there are no Bibles available. Any ideas? It keeps saying that the .exe files are not valid Pocket PC files---that is what happened with the OliveTree ones as well. |

Everytime I click on any of them it just skips to the top of the page---I tried using save target as as well but it gives me files that are only 58K big.
