Question for you Software guru's out there

I'm considering a WM 6.5 based phone (TP2).

A BIG consideration for me is using it to run a simple "aviation weight & balance" program that runs on Windows XP

My question for the Guru's is, can a Win XP program run on WM 6.5

TIA

OK. Thanks for that.

Is there a way to convert a Windows program to run on WM 6.5?

Sorry if these are stupid questions but I'm nowhere competent in these matters and appreciate the advice.

Re: Question for you Software guru's out there

Greetings. Not sure if you know about this software or not, but it may help you. Here's the link to the site http://www.eflite.com/software/mobil...lators_pro.php and here's a description of what it does.
  • Precise weight and balance calculations available in an "Empty Weight" or "Operating Weight" configuration.
  • Longitudinal CG Envelope for ALL aircraft & helicopters.
  • Lateral CG Envelope for helicopters.
  • Instant display of weight and center of gravity during critical takeoff and landing stages of flight.
  • User-Friendly touch-screen interface for quick & easy data entry at all skill levels.
  • Colorful indicators and reference points capture immediate attention.
  • Multi-Module functionality lets user import an UNLIMITED number of aircraft modules.
  • Set Defaults minimizes data entry by auto inserting user-defined values for pilot names and weights, flight origin, galley, baggage compartment items and so on.
  • Max Limit Monitor analyzes fuselage stations to prevent a maximum structural weight violation.
  • Approved Load Manifest fulfills your civil aviation authority recordkeeping requirements (FAA, CAA, CASA, EASA, JAA, Transport Canada etc.) and includes the following parameters:

It claims to work on WM 5 and newer. Worth a look i guess.

Thanks Dschoenike,

I inquired about that an similar products.

Answer I got from IT was that as per our Op Specs they are not approved nor will they be. Got to go with the Co. developed program.

I know that there are third party emulators that allow PalmOS programs to run on WebOS devices. i just can't imagine that there is not something out there that will allow Windows stuff run on WM

palmOS is to webOS but windows certainly is not to Windows Mobile. come on, both palm and web systems are meant for mobile while you're trying to run desktop stuff on mobile...

Windows XP and Windows Mobile use different instruction sets, programs, api's, hooks so it def won't work.

You might consider a netbook with a 3g connection card.

Thanks gprimr1,

Guess I was so caught up in consolidating devices, hadn't considered that.

Sending you a "thanks" for an answer that that actually explained something and was not a condescending smackdown.

DUDE!!! This is news I can use! Great work-around to a vexing problem.

My only draw back is the locations (on airport cargo ramps) where web access is crappy at best.

LogMeIn is worth a shot. A big THANKS
