Play.avi? - Mobile Word?

First issue:
I just subscribed to HD Nation podcast & downloaded a couple of their video podcasts. The file format is .avi

It looks as if WMP is the default player, but it cannot play the file.
Can someone suggest a player that supports .avi? I'm guessing Album doesn't support .avi either?

Second issue:
I use Word a lot to paste emails to so I can zoom. Now when I try to open a new Word document to paste into, I get a message saying the file cannot open (just trying to open a new/blank document)

I was hoping to avoid doing a hard reset and install of Mighty ROM. Is there somewhere to download Mobile Word?

Sincerely appreciate the help.
Skid

EDIT: Upon further research, it looks as if I should not have deleted the "Templates". Is there a way to restore the templates?

Re: Play.avi? - Mobile Word?

Coreplayer (Paid) and TCPMP(free) can both play .avi files.

You could download Office 2010 from the marketplace. It lasts till April and you'll probably flash before then. Or just ask someone to give you the templates from their phone.

Re: Play.avi? - Mobile Word?

Good tips. Thanks

I tried the Office 2010 Beta and I get the following message...
"pword is not a valid pocket pc application"

I tried out Coreplayer. It couldn't play the .avi files either. I guess Ineed to find out what type of video is inside the .avi container. argh.

I really appreciate the time and help.

Skid

EDIT: OK, reinstalled Office from Microsoft's site. All good again. Now to work on this podcast vid.

Re: Play.avi? - Mobile Word?

Core Player can play .avi files but file should be in divx or xdiv codec.
