If you launch with that shortcut, you will be locked in portrait mode. If you launch directly from the exe (\Windows\HTCAlbum.exe), the album will detect your orientation and launch appropriately.

To modify HTC Home Launcher for this, go to:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCHome\Launcher\(album icon position number)
Change Path to \Windows\HTCAlbum.exe

Thank you for the info, but did you check the zip file I posted in the 1st post? if you open the shortcut, this what it shows 21#\Windows\HTCAlbum.exe -mode: picture -type:image so basically the shortcut made to access the .exe from the launcher or programs menu.

Yes, JUVS found two options for the shortcut:

-mode: picture (portrait)
-mode: camera (landscape)

As far as I know, there is no -mode: automatic. But I found that if you launch or link directly to the .exe (not using a shortcut), the album opens in the orientation you're in.

Love this program, but it's not flawless. The fact that it doesn't organize the photos at all is kind of a pain. It loads every single photo on both your internal and memory card, and if you've got as many photos as I do on your card, this makes it painfully slow. Also a good way to inadvertently display photos you may not want everyone to see...

Well again the shortcut I posted is the Cameraalbum.exe direct shortcut, you replace the one you have in \windows\start menu and it will do, when you are in landscape mode it will open as landscape if you are in portrait mode it will open in portrait.

Ok, I get the confusion now. You see, the first shortcut that came with the album software was the one that opened it in landscape mode (-mode: camera). That shortcut wouldn't allow you to open in portrait mode at all. I see the second shortcut (-mode: picture) DOES allow you to open in landscape mode even though its intended purpose is for portrait.

It's all good, use that shortcut :)
