i say keep google maps for the simple fact that garmin is no good for directions if ur gps is not locked, u can still search and get phone numbers but when it comes to getting directions u cant do anything until u get the gps lock. Google works regardless of a gps lock or not so u can at least get directions in a text form when u are in a pitch. As for igo 8 i personally am about to uninstall it because there are alot of places around me that igo does not seem to know exists yet. I can find anything i search for in google maps and garmin xt but igo almost always comes back with a blank search list

my .02

Wirelessly posted (Touch Pro 2 (Sprint): Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

I run both apps. To me, they compliment each other.

I kept it but I almost never use google maps. I have unlimited everything with Sprint so its easier for me to just use sprint navigation...for free.

As long as you have a license for each map installed on each device, there is no issue...

I like Garmin a lot... I originally got it because driving cross country, there are dead spots for cell service, and I still wanted a way to find out where I was... Also better for the water...

Google Maps is nice for Streetview and Lattitude... Family can track where I am... ;)

Garmin does not show traffic on the route you are dring. YOu have to go to garmin online to see it. it is the same as google map and much slower.

also,
some other questions.
1. Garmin mobile XT WM does not report street name on all turns, right?
2. You can not drag map around like google map or igo, right?
3. The POI is so crowded and so slow. Can I turn it off on map?

Re: Would you still keep Google Maps app after installing Garmin Mobile XT?

Personally I have iGuidance 2009, Google Maps, Bing, and Waze.

Waze is my favorite in concept but still in beta and it shows. On the other hand it has voice turn-by-turn and real time traffic. I have iGuidance because I don't have nationwide data and have to travel outside my coverage area often enough to need it. Bing I like for finding stuff around me locally and the voice search although I don't get why it can't use the GPS as the current location as the default upon start and update that periodically. Google is really my least favorite of the bunch but I keep it around in case the others are not giving me what I want.

If Google would add voice turn-by-turn and a few other features from the Android version my opinion of it could turn around real quick.
